It took us over 24 miserable hours of traveling in monsoon-like weather with no sleep and colds to get to our next destination. It was definitely a test of our marriage, which I am happy to announce we passed with flying colors! I have to gush for a moment and share something my husband said to me. As we were landing in Fernando de Noronha, arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, we were in absolute awe of the view out of the airplane window. We could barely keep our eyes open from being sleep deprived, but we did not want to miss a thing. He whispered to me in his sexy Argentinean accent, “My breath is completely taken away.” I responded, “Si, mine too mi amor.” And then he grabbed my hand and looked into my eyes and said, “No, I meant you take my breath away.”
And that is how our trip to the island paradise began.
My husband and I wanted an all-beach honeymoon. But, the colonial city of Parati called out our names ever so sweetly, thus we had to spend one day exploring her cobblestone streets. And we are so delighted that we listened to her calls. These are my 3 favorite photos from our jaunt to dry land:
I have a secret. I found the most perfect deserted beach in the world! But, I am not telling you where it is. I am only going to show you what it looked like above water:
And under water:
I will give you one more hint. In order to get there, you must find a kind fisherman in Picinguaba to take you to this tropical paradise on his boat. Good luck finding this treasure of a place, it is definitely worth the hunt!
The philosophy at this hotel is to completely disconnect from everything. It took me about 5 seconds upon arrival to become an ardent follower. In fact, I think I am going to start a new religion called “Picinguabism.”
We are leaving for Parati today and while I am excited to see a new city in Brasil, I am definitely going to miss Villas de Trancoso with all of my heart. One of the things that I am going to miss the most is our bed and not for reasons you are thinking right now, but because it is truly my dream bed!
You also know that you have married an Argentine when your husband says he is going for a walk on the beach and when he does not return for over an hour and you go to look for him you find him playing fùtbol with the Brasilians and having a friendly argument over who was a better player Pelé or Maradona.
It is one thing to be married to the love of your life, however to be with that special someone in a place like Trancoso, Brasil for your honeymoon and to have the ENTIRE place to yourselves. . .well, that is a whole other thing.
In less than two weeks the most important alternative pop music festival in Spain and one of the main festivals in Europe will open its doors. Yes, I am talking about the Primavera Sound in Barcelona. The festival will star artists like Pulp, The National, Interpol, Flaming Lips, PJ Harvey, and DJ Shadow to the Catalan capital. A totally amazing line up squeezed into 3 days of rhythm, good vibes, and hardly any sleep.
But this year the festival also incorporates what they call “primavera” in the city, which brings music to every corner of Barcelona, in bars, night clubs, underground stations, streets, and parks. And the best part: it is all free!
These next 2 weeks in Barcelona will be more vivid than ever. The spring and summer season will officially be inaugurated with this enormous lineup of talent. If you happen to be around the city in these days, you still have time to get your ticket; there are bonus and one-day tickets. If you find them too expensive, just enjoy the city’s atmosphere, and do not be surprised if you see an abnormal amount of hipsters wandering around. There are many who rent apartments in Barcelona just for the festival. You will recognize them by their style: Ray-Ban wayfarer, hat, skinny jeans, and occasional neckerchief.
If it is your first time going to the festival or you are considering it for next year, here are some tips to make it as enjoyable as possible for you:
Remember bringing drinks or food into the festival site is not allowed. Also, drinks are not cheap, so bring extra cash.
Wear the most comfortable shoes you have.
You will probably lose your friends at some point, as it will be crowded and dark, so make sure you agree on a meeting point in case of getting separated from each other.
If you want to reach your Barcelona accommodation by metro when the party is over, take into account that you will possibly see many trains pass by without stopping because you will not be able to enter them due to the the amount of people already on board. Taxi is another option, but they will not be abundant either. Just be patient or walk.
Plan a schedule ahead of time so that you will not miss the concerts you want to see. As there are more than 150 bands playing, it is literally impossible to see them all. You will have to decide according to your preferences.

It took us almost an entire day of a traveling to get to the village of Trancoso. We had to take 3 flights from Buenos Aires and drive for an hour. Our expectations were incredibly high, as Brasil is my *husband* and I’s favorite place in the world. So, our hotel better have been good for as much traveling as we did to get to it and for how much we love the country. Well, exceed our expectations it did! Not only that, I honestly cannot think of any words to describe this Paradise. It was nighttime when we checked in and the owner, Galen, presented us with many wedding presents, one of them being a dinner underneath a full moon.
