Yesterday, my fiance and I spent the day taking our engagement pictures in one of my favorite barrios of Buenos Aires, La Boca, with travel writer/photographer Kirsten Alana Larsson. The main purpose of this photo shoot was to get 3 perfect shots for our framed guest books. The following 3 pictures are the ones we chose. Tomorrow I will unveil the rest of the amazing pictures!

Even though my family’s luggage with lots of wedding stuff inside was lost, even though my fiance’s cell phone was left in a taxi and no one can get a hold of me now, even though my wedding officiant’s flight was canceled, even though my Mom has laryngitis and is not able to give me words of wisdom, even though the list goes on and on…there is always time to stop and smell the flowers and smile! I am getting married to the love of my life and that is all that matters.
TweetGuest Post: Do Not Ever Look Back
We all lie. Starting with the assumption that, we, the human being are an intelligent animal (well, most of us at least), our brain often plays tricks on us, making us act perverse. An example being the act of lying.
Everybody does it; even you! Our parents have been lying to us since we were born. First, to protect us, then to make us believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny and finally, to convince us they are not upset with us leaving.
The message here is, “Would life be better without lies?” I personally do not think so. Most of the time when people lie it is to protect themselves or others rather than to do harm. Because apart from this inherent perversion that dooms human beings we also have morals.
But now, let us presume we had just one chance in our lives to discover a lie. What would you like to know for sure? Is there something absolutely crucial for us to discover? Would the truth destroy us?
I am asking this because when I was staying in one of the Rome apartments last summer I discovered a sculpture in shape of a man’s face and the legend says that if you tell a lie while having your hand inside its mouth, it closes, and destroys it. Sounds logical, right? It is called La bocca della veritá or The Mouth of Truth and is thought to be dated from the 1st Century. Curiously, no loss of hand data has been registered to this date.
Let us play a game together and imagine the above myth was true. Who would you take in front of this Mouth of Truth and what would you ask? Would you take your partner and ask him or her if they have ever cheated on you? Would you take your bosses to ask if they will renew your contract? Or let us get even more transcendental, would you take perhaps Saddam Hussein to ask him if he really had WMD’s? (Listen, I know he is dead, but I also know that stones are not able to tell if you are lying or not).
So, if you find yourself in Rome and you would like to expose yourself to this experience and test your bravery, shout out loud. “I am the owner of all the apartments in Rome!” with your hand inside the Mouth of Truth. Whatever the result is, please let us know through comments, twitter, facebook, or ordinary post mail. Good luck!

Yesterday was the official “1 week until the wedding” countdown! My fiance, Lucas, and I celebrated with our wedding planner, Julie, and her Argentine husband Seba at a restaurant that the 4 of us had once eaten at when Julie and Seba had just gotten married. It seemed like the perfect place to honor the moment. The whole day I was thinking about time and the journey of life. This was my 10th trip to Buenos Aires. I wonder what my life will look like on my 20th visit?
