My Wedding & Honeymoon: Day 6-10 (Part 12)

October 7, 2011

La Puente de la Mujer, or the Woman’s Bridge, is where we chose to take our wedding photos.  The iconic bridge, in the heart of Puerto Madero, is shaped to look like a woman who is being dipped while dancing the tango — so very, very Argentine.   It was one of the first landmarks I visited on my inaugural trip to Buenos Aires.  I cannot tell you how many times Lucas and I strolled across the bridge over the last six years, hand in hand, dreaming about our future together.

Now we were on the bridge yet again, except this time we no longer needed to dream, as our dream had become our reality.

One day while browsing Etsy for wedding ideas, I came across a shop that sold handmade signs and thought they would make for an excellent wedding prop.  We ended up using the following photo for the front of our “thank you” notes.

On our way back to the reception at Faena Hotel + Universe, Kyle, our wedding photographer, spotted something and told the taxi driver that he had to turn around.  She caught sight of a “LOVE” sign, which just so happened to be designed by Faena.  It could not be more perfect, right?

And, although I am totally biased, this is my favorite wedding photo Kyle has ever taken:

Before returning to our reception, we sneaked upstairs into our room for a couple of more shots.  We took the sweet photos on the bridge, thus it was time for some sexy ones!

Which is your favorite photo?

My personal favorite is that last one where you’re in the bathtub…so intimate feeling! Hahaha, thanks for climbing in the bathtub in your full on wedding gear 🙂

Lovely photos, Andi!! I’ve been following your wedding story after seeing your posts on Spanish Sabores’s page. Like you and Lauren, I have my own Spanish love story, though we went the civil union route. I wish my pareja were as photogenic, as it’s obvious we’d take wedding photos where we first met and fell in love – Triana, a lovely neighborhood in Seville, Spain! Here’s to many years of happiness for you two.

The lighting on the bridge is perfect, but the LOVE sign was really just too good a coincidence to be true! I love the series of the three shots, especially the one where you’re beckoning Lucas toward you.

I was so relieved when I saw these shots, because we rushed through this shoot and it was freezing and windy. I was nervous that you’d be able to see that in the shots, but you can’t yay! I was THIS close to saying that the LOVE shot was my 2nd favorite shot, my 1st being the one of your hubby kissing you in the street in Santiago on your wedding day…

The LOVE sign is AMAZING! And I absolutely love the symbolism of the bridge, and can picture you two strolling over it for years and years. Beautiful post!

Wow, Buenos Aires seems like a wonderful place to celebrate your wedding. It’s so romantic to go back to the bridge where you used to dream of a future together and now have your wedding photos taken there!

I especially love the 5th and the 8th photo on the bridge and the 3rd LOVE photo.

I can imagine it’s a difficult decision to travel that far for your wedding, but I’m sure you made the right choice!

Well, first we wanted Brasil and that didn’t work out, so BsAs was our next choice, but that was such a long flight for my family and friends. They still came though — I’m SO blessed!!!

I still absolutely love that photo of you in the bathtub, when you’re not looking at the camera, and Lucas is standing over you. To me it almost symbolises that you’re in a period of relaxtion and feeling so comfortable (in the tub) and Lucas standing over you is the protector who makes sure you’re always at ease, relaxing and looked after in your life.

I hope that makes sense. 🙂

That absolutely makes sense and I remember you saying that on Kyle’s post months ago. Your comment stood out amongst the hundred or so comments. I LOVE that image you have painted with your words and it couldn’t be more true! XO
