Andi’s Pick: Pousada Picinguaba

Pousada Picinguaba: Pousada Picinguaba, Brasil

First Impression

I believe the perfect honeymoon is not about the destination, rather it is about the precious time a couple spends together celebrating their new path in life.  Which is why my husband and I decided that we had to visit Pousada Picinguaba, because there we could truly escape the distractions in life, as the hotel had no TVs, no Internet, and no telephone reception, thus the focus completely on each other.

Location

Pousada Picinguaba is situated half-way between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in a quiet, seaside village.  The hotel is tucked away on a hill surrounded by the ultimate in natural beauty — with a view so magnificent it truly takes your breath away.  There are only ten rooms, ensuring seclusion and exceptional and attentive service

 The Room

While the decor in the honeymoon suite is simple, it has everything newlyweds could want and more.  The comfortable King sized bed is draped in a romantic mosquito netting.  Every day cold, fresh water is brought to the room and placed on the large dining table in the middle of the room.  The orchids and candles that decorate the room add to its rustic charm.

The Bathroom

Adjacent to the bed is an amazing jacuzzi that is reason enough to visit Pousada Picinguaba.  There is also a separate ensuite bathroom that contains a shower.

The Extras

Only the honeymoon suite has a spacious balcony with an inviting hammock that overlooks the sea.  Many nights were spent swinging in the hammock watching the sun set over this tropical hideaway.  Breakfasts are included in the room price and like all typical Brasilian breakfasts are large and delicious.

Why It Is Andi’s Pick

This charming pousada wins my heart over with its magnificent pool that is surrounded by the very best of what Brasil has to offer.

Pousada Picinguaba’s philosophy, which they achieve effortlessly, is luxury means tranquility, nature, and authenticity.

How to you manage to stay in such beautiful places!?! Absolutely stunning. That view reminds me of Ilha Grande. If I were you, I’d probably be lounging out everyday poolside. 🙂

It truly was gorgeous! And yes, I highly recommend ditching technology for a couple of days every once in a while. It’s so unhealthy to be SO connected. You need to visit your friends dear!!!!!

    Hi Andi,

Glad to have stumbled upon your blog. This place looks amazing, especially with no distractions from the internet and such. I haven’t been to Brazil and have always envisioned it to be loud and crazy. Glad to know there’s a quiet seaside village tucked in there too. Will definitely consider it for a visit. Glad you enjoyed it for your honeymoon. Que romantico! — Michelle

Oh gosh you must erase that image of Brasil from your head dear! Most of the country consists of sleepy, peaceful villages! 🙂 So delighted that you stumbled across my blog!!! XO

Congratulations on your marriage! What a stunning place for a honeymoon — if that doesn’t make you want to visit, I don’t know what will.
