Review: YP App

July 8, 2012

Hi, my name is Andi and I am an iPhone addict.  It truly is my third appendage and thus when I was asked to review the new smart phone app YPmobile® I jumped at the chance.  I have always been a fan of the Yellow Pages.  Not only has it helped me personally with my Chinese Medicine practice, but it has also helped me locate people and businesses all over the world for as long as I can remember.  Now with the YPmobile® app, you are able to turn your mobile device into a local guide on the go.  What a powerful tool to always have with you!

Once you download the app the first thing that you will immediately notice is how user friendly it is.  Who has time these days to spend hours trying to figure out how an app works?  I want it to be straightforward and simple to use, which is exactly what YPmobile® is.  No matter what your heart is set on finding, you will discover with the Yellow Pages.

After I created my own personal account, I decided to test the app by searching for my favorite restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina called Georges Brasserie, which I then subsequently reviewed here.  Once I found it by browsing through the restaurant category, I was brought to the Georges Brasserie’s unique YPmobile® page, where their phone number, website, details, and directions based on my location were displayed, as well as the current menu with ratings, pictures, and reviews from other customers.

I was in the mood for a cocktail later in the day and searched their menu for their daily drink specials.  I saw that they had a “lavender lemonade cocktail” that seemed awfully refreshing.  Four hours later I was sipping the following delicious concoction (I made sure to upload this photo to the YPmobile® app):

Another interesting feature was the “gas prices” button.  Click on it and it lists all of the nearby gas stations and their gas prices, so that you know the best place to fill up your tank.  There is also a “deals” button that displays local discounts and sales.  You can sign up for deal alerts, which signifies when your saved coupons are expiring within the week.  Finally, the app is compatible with other social media platforms.  You can share via YPmobile® important information with family and friends through text, email, Twitter, and/or Facebook.

Thank you to YP for being a sponsor.  Check out the latest YP app or YP.com to find food nearby fast!  YP is your local companion for making decisions on everything from where to eat to where to find cheap gas.  This post is in conjunction with my relationship with the Clever Girls Collective, and all opinions expressed here are my own.  #YPcrave

I miss my iPhone terribly! When I moved to Oz it ceased to work because apparently it needs to be unlocked. Grrr. But I just found someone who will unlock it for me – hooray! 🙂
