Capture The Colour Photo Contest 2

Last year I took part in the Capture the Color Photo Contest and although I did not win, I really enjoyed selecting my photos and was delighted to see that the contest is running again.  Here is my entry for this year:

Blue

Easter Island, Chile

Easter Island, Chile:  This is one of my favorite photos that I have ever taken, because I love the perspective of it.  On the day that I took the tour around the island to see the Moai, there was not a cloud in the sky, which allowed for the perfect blue backdrop to photograph the giant statues.

Green

Amazon, Brasil

Amazon, Brasil:  My first solo trip in a country where I did not speak the language was to Brasil.  I ended the unforgettable journey in the Amazon Rainforest, a place that I found to be life-changing.  On one of the stops I saw thousands of green lily pads.  What you cannot see in this photo were the huge black caimans swimming beneath them.

Yellow

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands:  This past Valentine’s Day my husband and I celebrated in the Cayman Islands with a bottle of champagne underneath a tiki hut on the beach.  We were fortunate enough to also witness an incredibly romantic yellow sunset as well.

White

Agra, India

Agra, India:  This just so happens to be another one of my most favorite photos that I have ever taken.  I was approaching the Taj Mahal and saw this line of Indian women in their coloful saris waiting to get inside.  They really stood out against the white marble of the mausoleum.

Red

Lhasa, Tibet

Lhasa, Tibet:  If you know anything about Tibetan Buddhism, then you would know the importance of the Potala Palace, which used to be the chief residence of the Dalai Lama.  These monks gazed adoringly at it.  In that moment I would have given anything to have been able to read their minds.

    The Easter island shot is my favorite pic that you’ve taken. And my baby pics of course!! What a fun contest. I’ll look into my pics as well. I don’t have 5 bloggers to nominate but I’ll try :))

    I think the white is spectacular! I love how even though all those beautiful and bright saris are in the photo, the white is still predominant.
    Love your photos, Andi. I loved participating in this last year as well. Going through photos like this is so fun!

    Really great photos. I’ll make you a winner today. Being serious. Travelling is nothing without a camera to capture those moments.

    I am considering my own competition where readers will rate images. The idea came to mind when I saw this great wordpress plugin called “Hot or Not”.

    Just to get involvement we could have rated your images for fun sake 😉

    what a FUN contest, it was so cool looking at your entries. my favorite was your Taj picture- it’s so STUNNING! I was there 6 months ago and didn’t get a shot as good as that, i’m so impressed 🙂

      Thank you for your kind words, they mean so much to me! I’m heartbroken that when I went to India I went with a crappy camera. I think about the shots that I could have gotten now with my present camera and it kills me! Guess I just gotta go back!!! How awesome that you were at the Taj just 3 months ago!

    I’ve never heard of this type of contest before, but it’s got to be one of the most fun and creative contests I’ve ever heard and seen! The pictures are so pretty, and I do hope you win this time around 🙂

    Wonderful! I especially love the Easter Island photo (a place I would LOVE to see one day!) and the India photo. However, the details in the green one are amazing, and I love that it’s from Brasil. 🙂
