Banner Elk Winery & Villa: Banner Elk, North Carolina

First Impression

Nestled at the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains lays the Banner Elk Winery & Villa; a Tuscan inspired three-story house surrounded by rolling vineyards, landscaped gardens, and a blueberry orchard.  This bed and breakfast was designed so that you would feel as though you are in the comfort of your own home — only a more glamorous version.  Who knew that after traveling the world, you would find the ultimate in relaxation in the High Country?

Location

Banner Elk, located in western North Carolina, is a charming town that only has one stoplight.  It is also home to a vibrant community filled with outdoor activities ranging from skiing, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and fishing.  Although the main attractions are definitely the agreeable climate and the friendly locals.

 The Room

The villa offers eight different suites that are aptly named after various wines that are produced in their vineyard.  Each one features a king or queen sized bed and are decorated with furniture from all over the world.  If you are looking to a splurge, the two largest suites have their own fireplace, which is quite a luxury during the cooler months.  Every time my husband and I visit, we always stay in the Cabernet Room.  When you enter your room of choice you are greeted with picturesque views of lake, mountains, and sky from the windows.

The Bathroom

The en-suite bathrooms are adorned with jetted tubs, Fresh bath products, and lavish linens.  Make sure to try on the bathrobes that come with the rooms — they are so comfortable you will never want to take them off!

The Extras

You will sleep peacefully in comfortable beds, waking in a renewed state of excitement about what the day has in store.  At Banner Elk Winery & Villa that could be anything from lounging in the common room next to the fireplace, exploring the beautiful grounds of the villa, or wine tasting at the adjacent award-winning winery.  Of course, a visit to the Spa at Banner Elk is a must.  There you can indulge in massage therapy, facials, and various other holistic services in a state-of-the art facility.  The highly trained therapists care deeply about bettering your health and you instantly feel that the moment you meet them amidst the calming atmosphere.

Why It Is Andi’s Pick

Since your wellbeing is largely dependent upon the food you eat, Banner Elk Winery & Villa offers only the best: gourmet cuisine that focuses on fresh and local seasonal ingredients.  Every morning you will awake to the delicious smell of breakfast being made in the kitchen.  During your stay you will never taste the same meal twice, as the menu changes daily.  An unforgettable way to celebrate your vacation is to enjoy an evening with a chef prepared dinner.  Earlier in the day, the chef will discuss with you what your favorite foods are and then will create an innovate feast that will be paired with Banner Elk wines.

Beautiful place! I love B&Bs because they usually offer the same comfort as a hotel, but are so much more personal! I love that they change their menu daily and that you can have an actual input on the food you’re going to be served in the evening – that must be the perfect meal! 🙂

Stayed there per your recommendation to celebrate my husband’s homecoming from Afghanistan – it was SO incredible and relaxing! Especially in the fall with the gorgeous leaves changing color. We drove up to the high vineyard and the views were incredible!!
