Joaquín’s First Halloween

November 2, 2015

I have never been much of a Halloween person. I have so many close friends that literally live for the day. They spend months thinking of the perfect costume and deciding which party they should attend. Me? I usually worked or called it an early night with husband and we would snuggle up in bed watching movies and taking turns answering the door when a trick-or-treater would appear. Well, everything changed once Joaquín was born. Now holidays mean even more to Lucas and I, especially Halloween, because we know how much children love it. We went back and forth on whether or not our son should be a lobster or a monkey and in the end we chose monkey. Read here why lobsters are so important to us. The reason we chose a monkey is from the moment we found out I was pregnant, Lucas would affectionately call our baby “monkey.” Thus, Joaquín’s nickname is monkey and believe me the name is completely befitting.

A couple of days before the 31st we took Joaquín to our favorite park for a photo shoot in his costume. Thankfully, we did, because sadly on Halloween morning he woke up with horrible head cold. We were only able to take him to a couple of houses and briefly to our neighborhood party, however despite being sick he had a smile on his face the entire time!

What did you and/or your children dress up as this year?

he’s soooo cute! The monkey costume looks totally adorable on him 🙂

Halloween is not much of a thing here so we stayed home, watched a movie and enjoyed the last evening of Sarah’s half-term, before she had to fly back to the UK to return to school. I did make butternut squash soup though 😉
