Little Washington, North Carolina: Day 2 (Part 4)

March 29, 2017

We had heard that Haven’s Garden was the best park in Little Washington, North Carolina. Since we did not know if we would have time to visit it the following day, we decided to head there before lunch. Located along the Pamlico River, the park compromises of two covered picnic shelters, playground equipment, a fishing pier, and open grass areas for volleyball, tag football, and other activities. It was updated in 2016 and is now an inclusive playground, so that children of all abilities can enjoy it. It truly is one of the best playgrounds we have taken Joaquín to, which is why I am sad that I did not take photos of it. What I did take photos of, however, was my son having the time of his life with the birds that call Haven’s Garden their home.

At first he just chased them, but then he saw a little girl feeding them bread and he was completely enchanted. She offered Joaquín some bread to feed them as well. Just as he was about to feed them, he decided to eat the bread himself, and then went back to chasing them!

My Mom went across the street to the gas station and bought a huge bag of chips for the birds. We thought Joaquín might be tempted to feed them the chips, but he started eating those too!

Even though our son was now full on bread and chips, we were definitely ready for some lunch after all that bird chasing. . .
