Wilmington, North Carolina: Day 2 (Part 3)

May 26, 2017

I consider myself a professional traveler. It it something that I have been doing extensively for the last two decades of my life whether it be solo, with girlfriends, with my husband, or now with my family. So, I know when it comes to travel, especially when traveling with children, you just have to go with the flow. Plans change and sometimes if you are lucky the change ends up being for the best!

This was the case for us on the second evening in Wilmington, North Carolina. Our son’s sleeping schedule was completely thrown off course and since he is one for routine, we were not at all surprised when he began to throw tantrum after tantrum. We tried taking him to the hotel’s pool and beach and when neither of those appealed to him, we just hopped in the car and drove around. We had no idea where we were going, but when we saw a sign for Carolina Beach, we decided to follow it on a gut instinct.

About thirty minutes after departing Wrightsville Beach, we had arrived to an entirely different beach and chose to give it a try. Thankfully, Joaquín loved it, as did we! Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery (and a batman mask) to reset a toddler’s mood.

Carolina Beach is no ordinary beach. The seaside town offers the best of a North Carolina beach experience from the past with a modern family-friendly spin. Included on About.com’s “Best Family Beach Vacations in the Southeast”, here you will experience a nationally recognized boardwalk, Carolina Beach State Park, world-class fishing, and miles and miles of a pristine, beautiful beach.

I have had the good fortune to have taken photos of some of the most gorgeous, famous, and treasured destinations around the world, but nothing compares to taking photos of the two loves of my life playing together in the ocean at sunset.

It does not take long to discover why there are a lot of beaches in North Carolina, but that there is only one Carolina Beach.
