September 26, 2018

Are you planning a trip to Norway? If so, you aren not alone — in fact, in 2017 more than 1.3 billion people visited this country. One of many great ways to see all the amazing attractions this country has to offer is by booking with norwaytours.noKeep reading to learn about some of the most visited and amazing sights you can experience during your visit to Norway:

  1. Sognefjord

This is the largest fjord in Norway, reaching 204 kilometers inland and branching off into several smaller fjords and inlets on its path. At the fjords widest point, it is about five kilometers across with the cliff walls reaching up to 1,307 meters. This creates a truly breathtaking view.

The most popular method for visiting the fjord is by taking a boat, with fjord sightseeing tours and cruises being plentiful. You can also spend time exploring the much narrower branches, such as Naeroyfjord.

  1. Pulpit Rock – Preikestolen

Are you an active traveler? If so, this is a great destination for you to put on your must-visit list while in Norway. Why? It takes quite a bit of time and effort to reach the destination. Even though this is true, Pulpit Rock is still considered one of the most popular destinations in Norway.

Found close to Stavanger, the destination requires you to take a bus and then hike for two hours, uphill, to reach the virtually perfect flat-topped cliff. This cliff looks over Lysefjord, which is more than 600 meters above the water.

  1. The North Cape

For many people, the main attraction in the country of Norway is the North Cape. Each summer, more than a quarter of a million tourists visit the North Cape, which makes it one of Norway’s most popular and visited sights.

This site is a natural and monumental experience that offers countless breathtaking views, a dramatic cliff, and unusual climatic conditions. The North Cape is located in the Finnmark region.

  1. Tromso

Found 349 kilometers to the north of the Arctic Circle, Tromso is most well-known for its crucial role as the base of several Arctic expeditions since the mid part of the 1800s. This location was originally settled in the 13th century as a thriving fishing village, and this industry has been an important part of life here since.

If you want to see the northern lights (aurora borealis), this is a great location to visit. You will also find several other attractions including the Polar Museum and Polaria. Even though this is located in the “frozen north,” you can also visit the Tromso Arctic-Alpine Botanic Garden, which is home to many different flowering plants.

  1. The Town of Lillehammer

The majority of visitors to Norway remember the town of Lillehammer from being the location of the Winter Olympics in 1994. However, this town is considered a real “gem” for visitors — even during the summer months. This city attracts nature lovers year-round for all types of outdoor activities and fun in the sun at Lake Mjosa.

You can drive to the town of Lillehammer by following the E6 in Norway. If you are coming from Oslo, it is only about a two-hour drive and it is well worth the time and effort.

If you have plans to visit Norway now or sometime down the road, then be sure to put these sights on your list of places you want to go. You will not be disappointed with the many things to do and see in this country.
