The Horse Shoe Farm: Hendersonville, North Carolina

Horse Shoe Farm

First Impression

The Horse Shoe Farm, set amidst the verdant splendor of the Appalachians, gives “Southern hospitality” an entirely new meaning. The list of accolades reads like a novel and it is no wonder why. This pastoral wonderland has an unmistakable storybook quality. Upon arrival, guests will find no shortage of activities in which to partake throughout the 85-acres of land.

Restored by the Turchin family from a classic farmstead into breathtaking, light-filled homes, each residence is uniquely personalized to its natural surroundings, while being easily accessible to the entire farm. Think luxury with a spiritual twist!

Location

The property is located in Hendersonville, tucked amongst the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the tail end of the French Broad. It is about 25 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina.

The Room

There are eight beautiful homes available to rent — from small cottages to timeless manors — forming part of over a dozen structures on the farm. We stayed in the cozy Lily Cottage.

There are two master bedrooms with king beds, which works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. Truly, I have never slept on more comfortable mattresses while traveling in my life. It is the perfect place for guests to reset, reflect, and create.

You will enter the home through a bright, open concept living and kitchen space, complete with a gas fireplace, dining table, beautiful hardwood flooring, and ample seating. On the covered porch is an inviting swing, where you can spend your mornings sipping coffee or your evenings draped in your special someone’s embrace.

The Bathroom

The two ensuite bathrooms are informal, but elegant. Hearkening back to the past, the bathrooms provide a relaxing oasis combing the best of a country-chic style with fresh contemporary touches. You will also find luxurious Pharmacopia products for use as well.

The Extras

The property does indeed house an operational farm, where visitors are encouraged to participate in the daily rhythms of rural life and interact with the animals.

The Stable Spa is one of the most unique and tranquil spas I have ever encountered. Rarely do you get the chance to pamper yourself in a gorgeous converted barn. From the moment you enter, I guarantee you will experience a state of bliss due to the ambiance. The menu, inspired by the elements of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offers a selection of treatments aimed at nourishing and healing the body, mind, and spirit.

Every morning, in The Silo Cookhouse, the owners offer a fresh-squeezed Juice Bar along with a selection of breads, teas, and coffee.

Standing as a beacon of light on the grounds, is their beloved Silo, which has been transformed into a space for contemplation and introspection. As you climb the winding stairs, you will find yourself with a bird’s eye view of everything Mother Nature provides. This sacred place is filled with inspired messages from past visitors and you too can leave your mark if you feel inspired. I personally shared a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.

There are also ball fields, biking and walking trails, bonfires, fishing, a game room, a labyrinth, and yoga classes.

Why It Is Andi’s Pick

There are a hundred reasons why I love The Horse Shoe Farm, however the #1 reason I became so enchanted with it is that it is so incredibly child-friendly. As a traveling family, it is essential to us that a property cater to both adults and children alike and this farm definitely appealed to all! My son was asking to return before we had even left.
