June 21, 2019

House moving can be a pain, but it can actually cause real pain as injuries during house shifting is not very uncommon.

We have listed below common injuries while moving and how to avoid them below;

Common Injuries Caused On Moving Day:

Fractured Hands, Toes or Finger:

During moving, people often drop heavy objects on their body part causing a fracture. You need to be careful in the way you are lifting things as fracture takes 6 weeks to heal and it may disrupt your entire shifting plan.

Cuts and Scrapes:

While packing, you may come across sharp objects and cut yourself. It is quite difficult to avoid small cuts hence be prepared. Keep a medical kit nearby always.

Sprained Ankles:

Moving can be such a rushed process that you may twist your arm or foot while moving around to get work done. Wear proper shoes and do not rush around too much. This is not a race.

Back and Knee Injuries:

Moving means lifting heavy boxes and items multiple times. If you do not have a strong core, extra stress will be exerted on the back which may cause back injury. Do not be in a rush, take your time to pack items. Don’t make too many sudden movements. If an item is too heavy to lift, get some help.

Heavy objects can also put pressure on your knee and can damage it causing pain. Do not handle too many heavy boxes. If by chance you hurt your back or knee and the pain lasts more than a few days even after rest, do not take it lightly; before the pain aggravates visit ProHealth Chiropractic Wellness Center where experts will help you deal with the pain.

How to Prevent Shifting Injuries:

Clear Obstacles:

Keep the packing space clean. Do not pack everything on a single day, that will create a mess, plan to pack one room every day that way your house will not be messy. If you need to pack a lot in a way, make sure to keep access route to the door clear so that you do not trip and fall because of stuff lying around.

Dress Properly:

Packing can be hectic hence wear comfortable airy clothes. But do try to cover yourself as much as you can to avoid injuries such as scrapes and cuts.

Make frequent breaks to catch your breath and stay hydrated:

Do not pack everything at once. Take some breaks and do keep yourself hydrated or else you may feel fatigued or get a headache.

Get Some Help:

It is a great idea to get professional movers to help you as they will bring along equipment to lift heavy items hence you can relax while they do all the work. If you do not have the budget to hire a mover, then call your family and friends to help you out instead. The work will get distributed and you will get some time to relax and catch some breath.

Moving is an overwhelming process in itself, you do not want to get injured while doing it as you need to stay healthy and conserve your energy to set up your new home hence take all the required precautions while moving.
