At Primland one is spoilt for choice. There are so many activities to chose from that I guarantee you will leave your vacation feeling like you just scratched the surface of all that is offered to guests. Since my husband Lucas and I only had one full day at the property, we packed our schedule with back-to-back activities from morning to night and of course began with a hardy breakfast for extra energy.
Our first activity was an ATV tour through the Blue Ridge Mountains. I had never been ATVing before and while I am always up for a new adventure we ended up choosing a two-passenger RZR, so that I could take pictures while Lucas drove.
Primland has created ATV trails all over their 12,000 acre property and most tours last around two and a half hours. Each part of the trails offer gorgeous panoramic perspectives of the land, though for me a lot of it was a blur, since when my husband drives he puts the pedal to the metal.
Halfway through we stopped for a quick stretch. You know you are in a special place when wherever you look you find a lady bug.
Most of the time when we travel together I get to plan the trip. Lucas loathes planning and planning is my middle name, however for this trip I let him pick the activities and it was such a delight to watch his inner child come alive! He had a permanent smile on his face the entire time we were at Primland.
That looks like so much fun! Your pictures are fantastic, as always. I’m so happy for you that you got to see a black bear. I remember the first time my husband and I saw one; it was a really special thing.
Thank you so much! I was worried they would be pretty blurry!!! It really is so special to see one. We couldn’t stop talking about it for days haha! Where did you see one?
Your photos are gorgeous!
I tried and tried to think of what you’d do for the next. But, I don’t know… Maybe, a picnic?
Thank you sooooo much!
Oh Andi! I love all the greenery! I´m in such need of lots and lots of green (and those lovely little yellow flowers too!) to relax these days! Sometimes is so nice to unwind and let the others plan for us, right? It looks like you two had a blast there!!!
It is sooooo nice to let others plan for once!!! We definitely had a blast! XO
Three things: 1. The photos are beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. 2. I can’t believe you actually got on a 4-wheeler! 3. I really can’t believe that you were excited about seeing the bear. I would’ve been screaming for Lucas to get us out of there fast! lol
Looks like you had a blast! Give Lucas a big hug for me. 🙂
Hahaha I adore you! 1) Thank you!!!!!! 2) I know I’m super girly, but I LOVE adventure sports. Before I got married I swam with great white sharks, climbed mountains, skydived, etc. Now I’ve toned that down a bit, because my hubby gets really nervous when I do it. He didn’t talk to me for a day after I bungee jumped, because he was so scared. Poor guy! 3) I’m obsessed with wild animals. I would have gotten closer to get a good pic if he hadn’t had run off grrrrr! We’re both sending you BIG hugs!
I always LOVE your photos, Andi. The shots of the flowers and ladybugs are particularly beautiful! It looks like such a fabulous trip.
Thank you sweetheart, means a lot to me! XO
This is such a great way to get to know the landscape of a place when you don’t have a whole lot of time to do so on foot! 🙂 And it’s so great that you got to see a bear – I might have been a freaked out if I hadn’t been in a car, but I suppose the bear wouldn’t view us as a threat anyway 🙂
Yes, I agree, I think it’s an incredible way to see the landscape! We covered so many miles on that thing!!! Haha the bear was so scared of us and ran away faster than I could take a picture!
You are KILLING me with those photos! Just gorgeous! I actually have my ATV license from an old job I had down in Georgia back when I captured ‘gators. True story. Though I doubt I remember how to drive one now. 😉
Whaaaaaaaaaaat!?! How come you never told me about this? You MUST do a blog post on this!!!
Really fun job with the photos! I want to ditch the office for the day and go play in fields and flowers O:-)
Awww thank you so much! And I totally support you playing hooky!!!
I wish I had read this when I lived near this area for 13 years – looks like you found more to do in a few days than I ever did. LOVE all your photos as usual!
Thank you so much! Hopefully, you can return for a visit sometime? I’m really trying to explore where I live, because we always forget that where we live is a destination as well. 🙂
What a fun day doing something totally different from your usual routine!
Yes! I think that’s important from time to time — gotta try new adventures! This was SO much fun!!!
beautiful photography!! Such a beautiful place. What camera do you use?
Thank you so much!!! I use a Canon 7d.
This looks like SO much fun – I’ve never gone ATVing either but a ride through the countryside sounds like just the place. This property must be HUGE!
It was TOO much fun! I could have easily done another 2.5 hours haha. The property is massive, you could easily spend a week there. I want to go back with you!!!
drooling over that food nom nom nom
Hahaha soooo good!
So happy to see you exploring my home state! I might be biased, but Virginia is one of the most beautiful places in the world. And you’re seeing the best part! Let me guess…was your next activity wine tasting? Horseback riding? A picnic? There are so many options!
Oh wow, I’m in impressed with your guesses! Our third activity was horseback riding. 🙂 VA is a GORGEOUS state, of course I’m biased and think the Carolinas are the best haha, but I looooove VA.
SO fun, Andi!!! And you don’t fancy the outdoors, eh? You’re a natural out there with your man and your camera. 🙂
Oh no I LOVE the outdoors, I just don’t do camping haha!!! I LOVE nature (not sleeping in it though). 😉
OMG seeing you, Andi, in PINK on one of those ATV things is the cutest most endearing thing I have ever seen in my life!!!
Hahahahaha love it!!!!! 🙂
Incredible! I’m loving the picture of you snapping a shot in a helmet. Action adventure blogging for sure!!
xoxo
