If you were not aware of the fact that life is short before, then you probably are now. The COVID-19 pandemic has made us all reflect on our lives and how we really want to be spending them. It has also made us all realize how important holidays really are.
Whilst lockdown restrictions are slowly being eased, travel for leisure is still probably many months away of course. But that does not mean you cannot spend some of your lockdown time planning the trip of a lifetime. By giving yourself that light at the end of the tunnel it is bound to make lockdown that much more bearable and give you something to strive for.
So, how do you plan the perfect trip from lockdown?
Research
One in five of us are choosing to cheer ourselves up during lockdown by researching potential places to visit on the other side of the lockdown. The internet is an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to holiday dream fuel and it can really help to improve your mood to gain some sort of tangible idea of what you want to do and where you want to go. Some sites will even let you visit certain locations in VR, so you can really get a flavor of your dream vacation. So, whether you are eyeing up safari holidays in South Africa or beach holidays in the Caribbean, the internet is probably going to be your first port of call.
Visualize Your Dreams
Mood boards might have been seen as a little silly in recent years, particularly given the tools we can now utilise on our computers and smartphones, but there is something undeniably quaint about them and it could end up being a fun bonding experience with your family. It is surprisingly simple — put a cork board up in the kitchen and pin a map of the world on it. Every week, as members of your family to put a pin on a part of the world they want to explore once lockdown ends and make a pledge that the location with the most pins at the end of the year is where you will be heading next summer.
Start Saving Now
Once you have settled on the type of holiday to aim for and where you want to go, you are going to need to start considering the logistics and when it comes to logistics, money talks. Right now, it is almost completely pointless during your research to make a note of how much aviation companies are charging, because it is all very much up in the air (pardon the pun) right now. Indeed, companies you book with today might not even exist in a few months. So, your best bet is to go with an all-in-one company that plans everything for you. That way, if the worst should happen and companies go under, they will be the ones working behind the scenes to keep things running.
Generally speaking though, planning a dream holiday does not even need to be realistic. This is all about bringing a little positivity into your life. Because right now, that is something we could all use more of.
