Chile, Argentina & Uruguay: Day 4 (Part 5)

January 9, 2011

In case you missed my first, second, third, and fourth stops on the island, click here, here, here, and here.  The next stop was my favorite of the day.  I was already so blown away by everything I had seen thus far, that to say I was not expecting even more awesomeness would not be honest, but I was certainly not expecting something as awesome as this.

I suppose it was the combination of the statues and the ocean together that made it such a special place for me?  What I am sure of is that the magnitude of beauty in that one setting was enough to make me tear up instantly and even just looking at these pictures now causes the same reaction.

The following picture is one of the best I have ever taken:

To put things in perspective, these Moai average around twenty feet tall.

Then it was time to put down my camera and “just be.”  Well, until a pair of wild horses ran by, that of course had to be photographed!

After about an hour of sitting in awe and admiration, we then left for Alicia’s favorite stop on the island. . .

I never knew they had a row of them all lined up like that! It’s as if they’re guarding the shore. And wild horses?? What a mystical place…

I think these are seriously the most favorite pictures I’ve seen on your site…those statues are like CHESS pieces. And you look like you’re in a movie.

Nice Andi! I now want to travel to Easter Island… Went to Chili, but never made it there (chose to go to Patagonia and Atacama Desert).

Wow, Andi! Love these photos even more. I know the big story of Easter Island is the Moai but the scenery here is beautiful! Even the statues realize this as they are lined up to view it as well! 🙂

Gorgeous photos as usual Andi! I love the wild horses you captured, but like you said, the Moai statues are something of beauty and awe.

These pictures are amazing!! The Moai statues are just such a must see; along with many of the places in Chile. I’m so upset I missed out on Chile when I was down there. A good excuse to go back!

I literally gasped when seeing those pictures of the Moai lined up together. The rest of them left me breathless, particularly the wild horses. You’re so lucky to have had such an incredible experience, Andi.
