All good things must come to an end. Well, at least that is what “they” say. I am not sure I necessarily believe that to be the truth, but in this case, our unforgettable honeymoon was indeed over.
Not many of my readers knew that at the end of our romantic journey throughout Brasil, my husband and I would have to say goodbye to each other for an indefinite amount of time. Unfortunately, his visa did not get processed as quickly as we had hoped for, thus he would have to return to Argentina and I to the States. Our last day together was heartbreakingly painful, but we both realized that we are only months away from spending the rest of our lives together, finally side by side. For those of you that did know our situation and sent me loving words of support and encouragement, I cannot express how deep my gratitude is.
It was like the Universe knew that we needed something to help us with our sadness, because out of nowhere the sweetest dog appeared. She was 1 of 3 that lived at La Suite and she would not leave us alone. At one point she even followed us to our room, jumped into the bed, and snuggled underneath the covers. I am so grateful that she came into our life when she did, as she distracted us from the inevitable and provided us with a lot of laughs and joy.

When things get tough in my life, I pick a date and imagine that things we’ll be better. (It will get better by Thanksgiving, The Fall, etc.) It always works for me. And, I totally believe I hear about preparations for Lucas’ “Welcome Home to North Carolina” Party before the summer is out. I send out e-hugs and know that this will be a short season for you! 🙂
What a gorgeous comment, thank you SO much!!! It was the perfect thing to read to start off this week! Thanks love!!!
That sucks that his visa didn’t get processed fast enough. You guys had such an amazing wedding and honeymoon experience, and you’ll think of those moments every day you are apart. You’ll be reunited soon enough.
Yes, I’m only trying to focus on the positives right now, which thankfully are abundant! Thank you so much for your kind words. XOXO
Wow, my heart goes out to you both during this challenging time!
Thank you for your thoughtful words.
Thank you for your thoughtful words!
You made me cry but in a good way.
First I love South America, second I love dogs and 3rd I love that you gave us your love story. It’s nice to know there is still true love out there.
Awww, well I’m glad that I made you cry but in a GOOD way! I’m also glad that you enjoyed our story. I hope to one day turn it into a book actually! And I promise true love is out there!!!
I wish you a lot of strengths for the hopefully short time ahead! Just remember the great time you had together and the time will fly and you both will be reunited again!
And as we all know you have some amazing pictures of your honeymoon you can focus on in the future 😉
What fabulous words of encouragement!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope this time flies by as well. It feels like the minutes are passing by oh so slowly! We’re strong though and I know we’ll survive just fine. 🙂
My husband and I had to be seperated for a few months early in our marriage too. It is heart breaking to go through, but amazingly time slips by… next thing you know you’ve been married for 5 years and think back to that moment that you thought would last forever.
I hope that this time will slip by fast for you!
This comment was the perfect thing to read today, as I was really missing my husband! I hope these next months pass by faster than a blink of an eye!!! Thank you! 🙂
That is so sad… “indefinite” sounds so long. It is lovely about the sweet pup but how tough on the two of you!
Doesn’t it sound long!? Ugh!!! I just wish we had a date, whatever it may be, but a day we could countdown to would be so helpful! Could be weeks could be months. Oh well, we’ll survive!
Aww, all those beautiful honeymoon pictures, and then a sucker punch! I’m sorry. 🙁 This is the LAST HURDLE before you can be together all the time — you’ll get through this!!
Thanks for the words of encouragement darling!!! We’ll get through it, but it’s damn hard. 🙁
Wow. I can only echo the sentiment of the other comments. Remember, you’ve been away from each other before and he will be back again. You have some amazing friends and I’m sure many more incredible pictures to continue sharing your journey. And I’m sure you’re already planning the next adventure. 🙂
Yes, we’re totally pros at long distance, that’s for sure! It just feels SO different now that we’re married. Thankfully, I have a lot to keep me busy with at the moment and yes you’re right I have amazing friends that have been really supporting me.
PS How did you know that I was already planning my next adventure??? 😉
Awww this is my fav post of yours. About made me cry. I know the feeling oh so well. That little dog was a gift from God to you guys at that moment. Hope all is well with the both of you.
She was definitely a gift and one that we needed SO badly in that moment! I’m hanging in there, have my good and bad moments, though definitely way more good than bad. Thanks so much for your sweet comment!
Aww, girl you’ll see him soon. I’m sure now that ur marry the paper work should go by faster. Plsu that’s true love, and can break true love.
Unfortunately, a minute feels like a day right now! We’re just so ready to start our new life together and we don’t have an exact date as to when that will be able to happen. It’s frustrating! But, we’re tough and we know that there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂
How unfortunate that this bureaucratic red tape has to delay your lives together. On the bright side, it will be an amazing reunion when he makes it home.
I’m totally daydreaming about picking him up at the airport and knowing that all of this immigration drama is FINALLY over!!! It really is unfortunate that we’ve had to jump through the hoops that we’ve jumped through. Has taken like 5 years off my life haha!
SO cute!!!! I love dogs…what a darling
John and I are thinking of you both and hope L’s visa comes through as fast as possible. It’s so hard to be apart…wishing you much peace during this time and a speedy reunion loves xoxo
Such a darling and Lucas and I are both big dog fans too! We hope to have some of our own SOON. 🙂
Thank you so so so much for your kind words, they truly mean the world to us!!! It’s a difficult time, but we’ll get through it and we’ll be a stronger couple because of it. The 4 of us need to take a trip together. Loves! XOXO
I didn’t know that you two had to split again! I thought that this would be the end after 6 long years :(. I wish you the best and hope that the process is as quick as possible so you two can finally be together again!
All the best Andi, I have loved your posts, photos and stories from you gorgeous wedding and honeymoon!
Yes, sadly we had to split again! Sooo frustrating and terrible!!! I’m hoping this process goes by quickly as well, though it feels like eternity! Thank you so much sweetheart for your kind words. I thoroughly enjoyed writing about my wedding/honeymoon experience!!! 🙂
Adorable and thoughtful of the hotel to have these furry guys on property!
Agreed!!! I’m sure there are some guests that probably don’t like dogs and then they have to lock them up, but we were totally smitten!
That’s so sad, Andi. 🙁 No couple in love should be split like that. The strictness of immigration laws makes me so angry at times like this. *hugs*
Agreed 110%!!! Thanks for the hugs babe, I need them!
True love can’t be separated! You’ll be together soon I know it!!!
Can you tell that to US Immigration please!?! 😉
Oh my gosh I can’t stand it — that dog is SO cute!! And you are beyond happy holding it. Awwwww. You and Lucas will be together again soon. Sending much goodwill and good energy toward whatever US Immigration official is holding this up already!!
Thanks for your positive energy darling! We’re finally starting to see the light at the end of the loooooong tunnel. And I miss that dog beyond words!!!
Have you sent this blog to US Immigration??!! They have to see just how incredibly in love you are and work that visa quicker! 🙂
Hey that’s a brilliant idea haha! Thank goodness, his interview is now set for July 6! Fingers crossed he is able to come just a couple weeks after that!!!
You 2 are so beautiful! It will all work out.
Thank you so much. 🙂
Enhorabuena to the two of you!! I don’t know which I liked more, the pictures of puppies or how your post made me think. Kike and I have been together for well over five years, but our long distance periods have made up nearly half of that – my trips to visit my family, his deployments. While he’s abroad, we can’t skype, but it’s fun to exchange letters the old fashioned way and think really hard about what his voice or that crazed laugh were like. I know it’s love when he rturns two months later and I can never get my outfit right!!
Awww what a beautiful comment, that sounds like love to me!!! Aren’t the puppies adorable? Old fashioned letters are magical.
a great post on how to’s of traversing the distance for great relationships. I will be needing this soonest.
Glad you resonated with it!
