My Wedding & Honeymoon: Day 5 + Giveaway

June 20, 2011

As a wedding present to Lucas and I, a guest at our wedding offered to do a mini-engagement shoot.  We were of course elated, as there was no other way for us to have had one since up until our wedding week we had been 5,000 miles apart.  By now, most of you have already seen the photos.  If you have not, you can see them here and here.

A lot goes into making a photo shoot perfect.  After you have thoughtfully planed the location, date, and time, then you must style it.  We wanted our travel themed e-session to reflect Lucas and I’s exact personality, thus I chose to wear a gown while he chose to wear a shirt and jeans.  That is just so us!

My go-to hair and makeup guru in Buenos Aires used to be Kelo.  Unfortunately, while I would love nothing more than to sing his praises, since he really is a genius with his hands, he deeply disappointed me like so many of my wedding vendors when it came to my big day.  I will not go into the drama that he caused, but I will say that I no longer recommend him.  Having said that, I have still decided to take you behind the scenes before our shoot in his studio.  I told Kelo I wanted a Brigitte Bardot inspired look and that is exactly what he gave me.

I am delighted to announce that UPrinting has offered one of my readers the opportunity to win 100 postcards!!!

I have no doubt that my travel obsessed readers would love the chance to print their favorite image on postcards to send to their friends and family during their adventures around the world.  If I had to pick my favorite photo from the shoot to put on a postcard, while it it would be a difficult decision, I think I would choose the following:

  2. For an extra entry leave me a comment telling me that you have followed me on Twitter.

You know, I hadn’t even realized that your engagement photos didn’t have you two “matching” in formality because you’re right, both looks are so natural for each of you that it works perfectly.

I think we’d use a photo of the two of us, bags packed, stopped for a last-minute coffee at a favorite Portland spot just before heading out on our first #rtw adventure!

I think I would choose a photo of my hand holding a giant ice cream cone. It may not be a beautiful landscape but it is so very me!

I would choose an image of St Kilda beach in Australia—so when I send postcards home, I could say that I really do live in a postcard-worthy spot!

Gorgeous photos, especially that last one with the vintage luggage and the amazing background. So cool!

I would use one of my Australia shots too. I think they would be more impressive to send to friends and family than the ones I see in gift shops. Already following you on FB and Twitter, of course 🙂

I absolutely LOVE your choice of photo for your postcard. 🙂 I would have to choose something similar – me in a white sundress guarding stacks of luggage for my friends in Venice. 🙂

i love that you’ve kept it real with your recommendations! and i’m so sorry that you had issues with your vendors on your big day…if it makes everything you’d never be able to tell from the photographs – everything looked beautiful! (though i know that when you’re the person who knows how things are SUPPOSED to look/be done – then it can look different to you).

I would choose a photo of us jumping in front of a Tuscan vista. Just not sure who would take the picture if my husband/photographer is in the shot!

You look beautiful and good choice on what you would choose for your own postcard. I am sorry that Kelo let you down, but at least he came up with a great look. It is easy though when you have a beautiful model!

Oops, I forgot to say what I would choose for us, I think that the best postcard for Dave and I would be the one of us kissing at the Great Wall of China, The way we are leaning in towards each other looks like a shape of a heart with the wall directly behind us. It’s my favourite picture of us and I also wanted to keep it in the theme of romance since it is a wedding giveaway.
