Up until my dining experience at Lucia, the restaurant at Casa Colonial, I had been quite disappointed with the cuisine that I had tasted thus far in the Dominican Republic. However, after my sensational four course meal at this Asian-Latin fusion restaurant, my perceptions were radically changed.
Besides the gourmet dishes being delectably unforgettable, the ambiance was superb. You are guaranteed a view from any table in the restaurant, as one of the four walls is made out of glass, which looks out onto a mangrove jungle overflowing with exotic flora and fauna
At night, the candles come out in abundance casting the most romantic of glows.
My meals were a perfect example of how you can successfully combine Asian and Latin foods to create a flavor that tantalizes the senses and leaves you wanting more even after you feel like you cannot possibly eat one more bite.
But of course, I saved just enough room for the signature dessert. It might not be unique or even considered a fusion-dish for that matter, though anything with chocolate in my book is a winner. And so is Lucia!
Looks delish – excellent pics!
So excited to see a comment from you! It was sooo delish and thank you!!!
WOW, now that is a restaurant I would love to dine at!
And you absolutely should!!!
Your meal sounds fantastic, Andi. 🙂 I love restaurants that provide wonderful views for ALL their guests. 🙂
Agree 100%! That meal was insanely delicious. I would dine there once a week if I lived there haha.
Pretty restaurant! And I agree: The food in the DR as a whole was pretty terrible. I dined on granola bars I’d brought from the States for much of the time!
Oh gosh, it was so awful!!! Only thing that was consistently good was the alcohol haha! Yeah, this restaurant was absolute perfection.
I love the photos, they bring the post to life mmm. Was it expensive?
Thank you SO much!!! Yes, it was pretty pricey, but worth every penny!
What a beautiful restaurant (and beautiful food!) I love the Latin-Asian combo, which I usually see with Peruvian-fusion but this sounds even more awesome! I love caribbean flavours
It was the most amazing combination! I wish they had a sister restaurant near me, because I would eat there ALL of the time!!! Usually I love Caribbean food, so I was sad to be disappointed with the food in the DR.
Lucky you! We never had a good meal there. : (
Oh boo! Trust me, this was one of my only good meals.
That looks like one amazing restaurant!
I promise you it is!
OMG, you know how much I love food, that looks yummy, gorgeous resto as well!
The food was super de duper yummy!!! I even got to meet the chef and compliment him! 🙂
Gorg photos. How have you been managing with your new camera??? Did you get lessons on how to use it?! Your photos look so good!
Nope no lessons and no photo editing! What you see is what you get haha. Thanks a million for your kind words lovely, they mean a lot to me. I’m obsessed with my new camera, couldn’t imagine life without it now!!!
Makes me want to eat your photos Andi =D
Haha this has to be the BEST comment ever!!!
The lobster dish looks delicious. I am looking at my coffee and donuts and they just don’t compare.
I only eat seafood when traveling (absolutely no meat), as I’m a pretty hardcore vegetarian. But this lobster dish was so good that if I could I would eat it every day!!!
OMG that salmon roll is calling my name!
Sooo yummy right!?!
I’ve never been to the Dominican Republic before, but all of that food looks amazing! One of my best friends is Dominican, and she always makes the best dinners for us when we come over. What was your favorite dish?
Definitely the lobster!!! I have never loved a dish more! It was absolutely in my Top 3 favorite dining experiences ever.
the dishes look delicious.
As always great pictures andi!
Awww thank you so so so much! And yeah, the dishes were quite special!!!
That lobster and mango risotto looks amazing!
Amazing X 100! I want it for lunch now!!! 🙂
Now that looks like my kind of restaurant.
Mine too! 🙂
love reading your stuff!
So happy to hear that!!! 🙂
Awesome post!
Thanks!
Looks delish! I definitely don’t think of the DR as a foodie destination, but I’m glad you had one nice meal.
Definitely not a foodie destination, but I’ve always had a particular fondness for Caribbean food, so I was definitely disappointed by how terrible the food was that I had encountered. I’m sure that I didn’t get to the best local restaurants — next trip!
You are an amazing photog!!!
Thank you SO much!
Awesome post!
Thank you!
Why have I been missing these posts about your holiday, hun? Sorry. 😛
That places looks beautiful though. I can only imagine the food being every bit as stunning.
Wow did you went out of your place to here by taxi? Food looks so good.
No I was with a friend and it was really close to my hotel! The food was SO good!
