Happy Mother’s Day + Giveaway

May 3, 2013

Several years ago, a local magazine named Skirt!, interviewed my Mother and I for their Mother’s Day issue.  While we have had a complicated relationship — mainly because she detests flying and traveling is my greatest passion in life — I have always known that she is there for me when I need her the most and I am forever grateful for that.  The following is an excerpt and photo from that article:

When Andi became suddenly and unexplainably sick fifteen years ago, her mother Margit took on her daughter’s illness as a personal enemy.  “It almost killed me to see my child go from a nationally ranked swimmer to not being able to get out of bed,” says Margit.  A tireless search led them to what would be Andi’s ultimate relief: acupuncture.  Inspired by her own struggle and with her mother’s unwavering support, Andi is now a practicing Acupuncturist herself.

Margit:Not only does Andi have the power to heal, she has the willingness to listen to people.”

Andi:The beautiful thing at the end of the day is that I know my mom is always going to be there for me.”

In honor of my extraordinary Mother and all Mothers around the world, I am giving away a $40 gift certificate from one of my favorite companies Novica.  The winner is welcome to use their gift certificate to purchase whatever they would like from the website, however I suggest spending it on the most important woman in your life.  Check out their handmade Mother’s Day gifts, Mother’s Day earrings, Mother’s Day necklaces, and Mother’s Day handbags for gift ideas.

How lovely you two look dear Andi!

Sometimes we have people in our lives that do not understand our urging need to go out and explore this beautiful world but then again we must respect the way they are.

My mom cries every time I leave, it’s as if she’s afraid she won’t see me again.

Well she has gotten used to it and I am pretty sure your mom did too!

She loves you and cares and wants nothing but the very best for you. You rock girl 😉

What a beautiful tribute to her!

Feliz dia de las madres 😉

    Un *abrazote*

I love her selflessness! She simply cares more about what others need or want, and would sacrifice her own wants or needs for those that she cares about! I always strive to be as caring and good-hearted as she is!
