3 Reasons Why Love is an Important Virtue for Every Family

June 8, 2018

Speaking from experience, I knew from the day that I was little that my parents and grandparents loved me. My siblings also extended their love to me, and not a day passed by without each of us feel loved and cared for. Looking back now the love and care we had hasn’t changed to this date.

The fact of life is that families are created by God. If you believe in the word of God, God himself is love. When we spread this love among us, the family bond grows stronger, and the union becomes one that we can lean on for the rest of our lives. Whether you come from a big family or a small one, this is a virtue that we all need in life. Please read on and understand the 5 most important reasons why you should love and care for your family unconditionally.

It’s a recipe for mental wellness – let’s face it; life comes with its own share of ups and downs. When the road gets too rough for you to bear, you need moral, spiritual and emotional support. Although friends may try to give you support, no one does it better than your own flesh and blood. Remember the saying that ‘blood is thicker than water’? This basically means that you should have a special place in your heart for your own family.

Family love is an important key to a healthy life – being healthy is not all about eating a balanced diet, taking lots of fluids, and exercising on a day-to-day basis. Being healthy includes being fit in body, mind, and spirit. According to celebrated family men like Jason Guck, when there is love in the family, the physical well-being of every member is at its best. Even for parents, when you discipline your child but still make them feel loved, you are contributing a lot to their physical and emotional well-being.

Family love shapes the younger generation – if you want your children to grow up knowing what love is and valuing it, then it has to start from their childhood days. When you are the parent, the grandparent or the guardian, you must input love in them when they are growing up. When there is love in the family, these little ones will grow up to love their own families, teach their own children the value of love, and this will be the norm for generations to come.

Finally, love is something that you cannot force or fake. Love has to start from within so that spreading it to others will be an easy thing to do. So, love yourself first, and learn to love those around you. Let’s not allow our families to be together only because we share the same genetics; but rather because the love we have for one another is strong. For truly a family that loves each other, stays together in calm weather and in the storm.
