Why Florida Should Be Your Top Destination For The Summer

September 24, 2018

There is more to the Sunshine State than just white sandy beaches and warm weather. Florida is just one of those places that always has something for everyone no matter what time of year you visit. If you are thinking that you want to head down, but still do not know what to do when you get there, here is a list of some of the most popular destinations for you and the whole family as well.

Best Things to do When You Visit Florida

Florida is home to some of the most exciting excursion destinations in the United States. From exhilarating state parks to interesting museums and most thrilling beach adventures all year round. The best part is that some of these fun things to do in Florida are quite affordable, if not free. Here are some of the best things to do when you visit Florida:

Go on a Boat Cruise

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a boat all to yourself? Imagine taking it out into the big Atlantic Ocean and sailing out into the horizon. Renting a boat in Tampa, Florida is as simple as it gets. You will find a wide selection of simple to luxurious boats on offer and you can take the family out for a day on the high seas and soak up the sun while you do a little fishing. Maybe you can even teach Junior how to sail?

Stay at Amelia Island

Amelia Island is part of the barrier islands just off the coast of Florida. It is abundantly blessed with gorgeous beaches and that beautiful, small-town charm that you will not get in cities like Miami. Apart from the fact that it is less trafficked than the main beaches in the state, it also has a wonderful state park (Fort Clinch State Park). Here you can have a great time exploring a well-preserved fort from the Civil War era. You could also go out and visit one of the most bizarre beach landscapes at “Boneyard Beach”. If you are thirsty and tired of hunting for shark teeth and seashells on the beach you can make a stopover at Palace Saloon (Florida’s oldest serving saloon) and have a cold drink.

Get Lost in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando

This has to be one of the biggest theme parks on this side of the USA. Loaded with four main theme parks and two water parks, the only problem you will have when you visit the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is having way too many excellent options to choose from at any given time. You have several options when it comes to ticketing options. You can either go with the single-day, single-park pass that allows you to visit Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom or if you have the time you can go with the multi day pass. Heck, you can even choose the 10-day pass if you are extremely motivated to explore all that Disney World has to offer. This is by far one of the best things for people with large families and small children to do. You will keep the kids busy and happy allowing the parents to have some quality time in the Sunshine State.

Seek Unlimited Adventure in the Everglades National Park

The Everglades National Park is not just one of those places you go to when you want to pass the time. It is one of those places you go to when you want to infuse a great deal of adventure into your life. Not only does it have amazing canoe and hiking trails, but it also has exciting airboat and tram tours on offer. Whether you are into bird watching or just want a quiet slice of paradise in which to camp for the night, you will find it all at the Everglades National Park. Be sure to pay a visit to the “Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge” when you come down. This 35,000-acre mangrove refuge is home to some of the most iconic yet endangered animal species in the world such as:

  • Bald Eagles
  • West Indian Manatees
  • Kemp’s ridley sea turtles

While it is called the “Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge”, there is still some debate on just how many islands actually exist here. Some say it is the actual ten thousand, while there are estimates that suggest the number could be as high as 17,000 islands at low tide. No matter the case, it is just one of those places that should be part of your Florida Bucket List.

Sunbathe at the Iconic Miami Beach

Of course, if you are going to come down here you might as well get yourself a righteous tan while you are at it. What better place to do so than at the iconic Miami Beach? You can work out here, sunbathe, shop, or just walk around and take in all the beauty that Florida has to offer.

Truth be told, there is just way too much to do at the Sunshine State. So much so, that you will need to plan several visits if you want to take it all in!
