A good pair of jeans or two is like the staple of every man’s wardrobe, but not all jeans are created equal, and not all styles are in fashion at the same time. Some guys may not care one way or the other, but for the fashion-conscious man, this post will be taking a look at some of the top trends in men’s jeans in 2019 and beyond.
Let’s get started.
Slim Cut Jeans
This is a style that seems to flow in and out of fashion in waves. At the moment it’s definitely in. Some people refer to them as “skinny” jeans (especially in the female fashion circle), but in men’s fashion, it’s usually known as slim cut jeans.
Slim cut men’s denim jeans are not skin tight by any means but are designed to hug the contours of a man’s hips, buttocks and legs. They are a more “fitted” style of jeans that go well with just about any shirt or jacket.
Some say to wear with a fitted shirt, but really they work quite well with a loose style of the shirt too, so long as the colours look good together.
Relaxed Jeans
These are definitely a looser and more comfortable and casual fit. Relaxed jeans are also a little more flattering for any guys who may be carrying a few extra pounds. It’s a style of jeans that’s always in vogue, so if relaxed is your thing, you’ll never really go out of fashion.
Stonewash Denim
Denim jeans are rarely sold with the denim looking like it’s straight off the loom. Denim needs to look and feel worn in for the jeans to be stylish as well as feel comfortable and flexible.
One way of achieving this result is with stone washing the denim before creating the pants.
Stonewashed jeans can be very light coloured and faded, or they can be a darker colour with patches of light coloured denim for contrast.
It’s definitely a style that you’ll want in your wardrobe right now, for sure.
Distressed Denim Jeans
These days the torn and distressed (worn out) look of jeans for both men and women always seems to be in style. No longer is it just rock stars who wear this look. It may not be for everyone, but it’s very popular.
Distressed can come in the form of ripped denim, bleached patches, worn-out denim and frayed seams. Or a pair of jeans could incorporate all of the above.
A few rips and tears here and there can look cool on men, but you don’t want to go overboard to the point where the jeans really look like they’d be more at home in the rubbish bin than on your body.
Dad Denim
What the heck does “dad denim” mean?
It’s a basic, nondescript style of denim jeans, or often referred to as the “no style, style”.
Think of dad out there in the garden in a loose-fitting, faded pair of jeans that really don’t have any distinguishing features in cut, material or shape and that’s pretty much dad denim.
However, it’s been making a bit of a fashion statement of late, as many of the younger generation (not yet dads themselves) are matching this style of jeans up with denim shirts and jackets for a whole new look.
It’s a style of looking stock standard normal, basically, and that can work, as being fashionable isn’t always about trying to outdo the guy next to you.
Fancy Some White Jeans?
White jeans, paired with the right shirt or jacket, can really look pretty cool if you’re very careful about not getting them dirty. White jeans tend to mark very easily anytime you brush up against something that’s not perfectly clean.
That aside though, white denim jeans for men have really seen an increase in popularity in recent times, and that’s a trend that doesn’t look like it’s about to wane anytime soon.
White is a really cool colour to wear in the summer months, and I don’t just mean the look of them. White reflects the heat, so if you want to put on your jeans in summer, then a white pair will definitely keep you cooler than navy or black would.
