Knitwear Trends to Follow this Season

November 22, 2019

Knitwear is a total Autumn/Winter staple – honestly, where would we be without it in the colder months? You shiver just thinking about it! Now, dressing for chilly weather is no question pretty difficult, when you’re constantly chattering your teeth it can get really easy to have the same three drab sweaters on rotation whilst you count the days down until summer. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! Knitwear is actually an amazing place to get seriously stylish about winter dressing, and the trends just keep coming! Here are a few key knitwear trends to follow when the cold starts to set in…

The chunky, oversized mock-neck

Mock-neck styles are incredibly elegant and chic, they add that androgynous tone to any outfit and keep you amazingly cosy when the weather is really unforgiving. A slightly oversized, chunky mock-neck jumper can be layered with absolutely anything. Wear yours over a silky slip dress, floating bohemian skirt, tailored pants, a mini skirt and boots or denim for an effortlessly cool winter look that will keep you warm all day long. This one is fast becoming an essential, so look at finding your favourite shape in multiple colours to refresh your winter wardrobe.

The thin-knit duo

A soft, thin knit co-ord is the epitome of stylish right now! For maximum impact, look for a snug-fitting midi skirt and cropped, long sleeve top duo in a gentle pastel or muted tone. You can dress this up with heeled boots and layered jewellery for night-time or throw your favourite heavy-duty wool coat over it and wear your chunky dad sneakers for the ideal winter daytime look.

Knitted pants

This is the perfect combination of comfortable and chic. A pair of knitted pants is a great staple for cold weather, you can dress a dark pair up with an oversized cotton button-up, chunky heels and an oversized cardigan, or wear with an oversized sweatshirt or close-fitting jumper for a stylishly comfy weekend get-up. Look for a flare or tapered cut to make sure they don’t mimic your sweatpants too much!

Curve-hugging dresses

The curve-hugging, floor length knitted dress is huge right now! For a forgiving style, veer towards navy or black. If you’re comfortable in a bright, tight piece, then white or beige look gorgeous. Look for a dress with a slide slit to show off your favourite pair of knee-high leather boots, wrap a luxurious knitted scarf around your neck and pull on a biker style leather jacket. This is a great polished look for any occasion.

The coat-agan

The term coat-agan is a hybrid between coat and cardigan, which is exactly what the garment is! An oversized, thick wool or alpaca coat-agan is so beautifully stylish and cosy, ideal for weekends and casual dinners out. Layer this over absolutely everything to look great whilst you protect yourself from the chill. A soft dove grey, beige or rose hue will be amazing for mixing up your daily outfits.

Cashmere cardies

The cardigan has really blown up over the past few seasons, it’s the number one cool girl piece for winter weather dressing! Reach for a close-fitting, long sleeve piece in a bright pop of colour. Lilac, red or mint green are all favourites this season. Dress yours up for night-time with flare denim, heeled boots and stylish beret clips for an awesome, fashion-forward ensemble.

Women’s knitwear is your key to reinventing your winter wardrobe flawlessly! These are the foundations of your cosy closet, so shop around and get ready to do some investing to find pieces that will last you a lifetime!
