First Impression
The Greek gods and goddesses have surely blessed us mortals with Elounda Gulf Villas. On the mythical island of Crete, this luxurious resort is bordered by an endless panorama of blues from the Aegean Sea to the cloudless sky. Privately owned and family run, the generous staff takes great pride in ensuring a customized holiday experience for every guest.
As you approach the hotel you may rub your eyes and wonder, “Is this too good to be true?” The property is one of the most exclusive in Greece for a reason. Regardless of which room you choose, you will be elated at what you discover, as there is a seamless blending of the unmatched services of a world-class hotel with the warm, inviting ambience of a private home.
Location
A short drive from the charming village of Elounda and about an hour’s drive from Heraklion Airport, Elounda Gulf Villas overlooks the Gulf of Mirabello from its hillside location.
The Room
The spacious and secluded villas and suites have been individually designed with an emphasis on unique accents and vibrant colors in contrast to their sun-bleached white exterior walls. We stayed in the Executive Pool Spa Villa, which deserves 6 stars on a 5 star scale! For a family traveling in Elounda, you will not find a better holiday hideaway.
The three of us quickly fell in love with our villa and all for different reasons. Lucas loved the fully-equipped gym and sauna, Joaquín loved the magnificent elevator, and I, of course, loved the infinity pool with the million dollar view. All of these decadent indulgences definitely makes you feel as though you are in a palatial setting.
There are two exceptionally designed master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a spacious living room and kitchen. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows open up to an inviting sun terrace.
The Bathroom
While travelers often choose a hotel based on it dining options, spa, or convenient location, the bathroom is one amenity that is often overlooked and at Elounda Gulf Villas it should not be. The villa we stayed in has three marble bathrooms. The two en suites have enormous showers and Jacuzzis with beautiful trompe l’oeil ceilings. The bathroom on the lower level is conveniently adjacent to the gym and sauna. The property also provides guests with a range of luxurious bath products and towels.
The Extras
Crete is known for its exquisite beaches and the hotel’s private beach does not disappoint. The Beach Club is located a ten-minute drive from Elounda Gulf Villas and there is daily private shuttle service upon request.
Lounge under the warm Greek sun on the comfortable sun beds and enjoy the crystal clear waters perfect for swimming, all while being pampered by the friendly staff.
If you wish to venture further, the concierge team is always at your disposal to propose activities that will thrill you. Although, if you wish to stay on the property, you will discover both world-class restaurants and a spa.
