There are a number of destinations around the world that are considered Bucket List destinations thanks to their incredible sights, attractions, natural beauty, history, and uniqueness. The country of New Zealand is most definitely one of those travel destinations that often pops up on people’s must-travel to list and is a country that is filled with surprises around every corner.

If you are in the middle of planning a family vacation to New Zealand, then obviously you want to be sure you are picking activities that appeal to all ages. Let us face it, keeping the kids happy and entertained makes for a better, more enjoyable, and stress-free holiday for all. To help you with the planning, here is a look at some of the top family-friendly activities you may want to include in your New Zealand itinerary:

Agroventures Adventure Park – Rotorua

If your kids are into adventure style parks, then Agroventures Adventure Park – Rotorua is the perfect destination. Found on the North Island of the country, the park blends adventure activities with geothermal and cultural ones, making for a really unique experience. Activities include jet boating, bungy jumping, freefall, the super swing, and a shweeb. It is a very New Zealand adventure.

An Overnight Cruise

Another great activity is to do a little exploring by sea, with a relaxing overnight cruise through Fiordland Expeditions. The overnight cruise will treat you and the whole family to some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the world, as well as fishing, kayaking, and a delicious lobster dinner for all. There is a good chance you will also get to view some of New Zealand’s wildlife along the journey.

Wildlife viewing includes the Bottle-nose Dolphin, Kekeno (fur seals), and Tawaki (Fiordland Crested Penguins).

Take The Family Surfing In Raglan

If you and your family are into surfing or have yet to give the sport a try, then Raglan is the place to visit. This area is especially great for beginners who have not yet given surfing a try. It is known for its long left-hand break that makes it possible for surfers to surf up to 1.2 miles. It can make the experience less intimidating and easier to learn.

Enjoy A Hot Tub Experience In Hot Water Beach

Hot Water Beach, which is found in Coromandel offers another very unique experience. Not only is it unique in New Zealand, but is unique in terms or any destination in the world. When you visit at low tide you can use a little shovel and dig out your own geothermal hot tub, relax in the soothing hot water, and enjoy the sun shining down on you. This is not your typical beach day.

Taupo Is All About Adventure And Activity

If your kids are the type who never like to sit still and always want to be outdoors and enjoying various activities, then Taupo on the North Island is ideal. It is known as the “adventure capital of the North Island” and for good reason. Some of the activities you can take part in here include skydiving, paragliding, jet boat riding, bungy jumping, biking along various trails and through mountains, and hiking.

Now keep in mind all of these activities will range in difficulty level and duration, so take everyone’s skills, experience, and energy into consideration.
