As the new year begins, it is a time for new beginnings, and with those new beginnings comes a chance to instill family values into your kids! Or at least remind them of what your family values are. The Tuttle Twins books are a great way to help support these efforts!
Make A List Of The Family Values You Want To Focus On
When you really start to think about it, there are a ton of family values you could focus on. Love, respect, honesty, freedom, forgiveness, loyalty, compassion, perseverance, integrity, generosity, family time, and community engagement are just a few. Some of these values may matter more to you than others, so it is a good idea to make a list of the ones you really want to instill in your children.
Once you have made your list, you will want to be really intentional about helping your kids learn these family values, and one way to do that is to be a great role model. Display these particular family values whenever opportunities arise, and point out the importance of these family values in certain situations.
Values-Based Children’s Books For 2026
In addition to making a list and being a good role model, you will also want to work in some values-based children’s books to help your kids really understand why these values are so important to you. The Tuttle Twins books are excellent helpers! The Tuttle Twins series includes several values-based children’s books, such as:
- The Tuttle Twins and the Golden Rule – This book has the twins going to summer camp for the first time, learning the golden rule firsthand. Competition turns ugly when the opposing teams start fighting, but Chief Ron and his camp counselors teach the tampers about the dangers of aggression, revenge, and blowback and why it is so important to live peacefully and in friendship.
- The Tuttle Twins and the 12 Rules Bootcamp – In this title, the twins teach their uncle the 12 rules their parents taught them during a boot camp to help him understand the power of those ideas and how, when mixed together, they can lead to stellar results.
- The Tuttle Twins and the Medals of Merit – In this book, the twins experience the strangest track meet they have ever been to. It is a competition where identity and circumstances uproot effort and ability.
The Tuttle Twins series also contains some kids’ books about freedom and community engagement, such as The Tuttle Twins Learn About the Law and The Tuttle Twins and the Food Truck Fiasco. As far as kids’ books about freedom, the former should be at the top of your reading list, because it teaches kids about where individual liberties come from and whether the government should help people or if we should. The latter teaches the importance of community engagement when the twins get involved in a campaign to get some unfair laws overturned so that their food truck friends will be back in business.
The Tuttle Twins books are among the top children’s book series for families because of the depth at which they teach family values. The best values-based children’s books are an important part of the discussion because they not only explain the values they teach but also tell why they’re so important and how we can practice them.
