My time in Santiago seemed like it went by faster than a blink of an eye. I did not want to say chau to Kyle and Emily the following day, however I was also counting the seconds until I stepped foot on Easter Island, a place I had been dreaming about ever since traveling became a central part of my life. Before I met the girls for dinner and drinks, I decided to pay another visit to the W’s rooftop to take pictures of the glorious Andes.
My first time seeing the Andes was two years ago when I visited Peru and while I was driving through them I became completely enchanted. There is just something about the longest mountain chain in the world that absolutely delights me (and no it is not due to me being named Andi). As the sun set and I watched the snow capped mountains in the distance turn pink in front of my eyes, I realized that I was experiencing one of my most favorite travel moments to date.
To celebrate my last night in Santiago, the three of us started off with cocktails at the W’s rooftop bar. If you find yourself in Santiago I highly suggest you head there for a drink, as the views are dazzling! Then we dined at the restaurant Tiramisu, which is across the street from the hotel. Thankfully, we did not have to wait for a table even though it was packed. I would have graciously waited an hour if needed though, as the pizzas were that good. I am sure it also helped that the company I was with could not have been better.
Love the pics, especially the last pink one 🙂
Andi, these pictures are great! I am sure you would agree that pictures just don’t do justice to the moment you snapped the shots. I have yet to explore South America. In due time…
I love watching the colors change in late afternoon. One of my favorite times of day.

girl i feel the same way about the Andes! I too, saw them for the first time in Peru when i did the Inca Trail. they are magnetic, mesmerizing, awe-inspiring, amazing works of art. i’ve never seen anything like them. no wonder the incas worshipped them!!!
Wow, those shots are beautiful! It reminds me a bit of Tahoe, with the snowcapped mountains and the city below.
The photos in this post are excellent as usual. Keep up the good work!
GORGEOUS photographs Andi! And of course, I am partial to sunset photographs. And mountains, since I was born in THE green mountain state. Lovely post. Just lovely!
Love how you showed the progression of the sun setting – beautiful!
Amazing. The mountains look as pink as your side bars.
It was so fun glamming it up at The W rooftop bar! I haven’t been back since then, but this post is reminding me I should go!
Lovely photos! I really like the reflection pic in the elevator. I agree with you about the Andes… I totally have a crush on them too. Ever since learning about the Incas in school I’ve been fascinated. Looking forward to visiting them again next month!
just read your post and it looks like you had a lot of fun! It also got me on the couchsurfers site to check it out too!

Your pics of the Andes are lovely.
I’m dazzled everyday by this–I never thought I’d really care about a bunch of mountains, but they’re far more breathtaking than I ever could have imagined. I’m always staring up at them going, “Wowwwwwwwwwww.”

Love the last two photos and the contrast between them.
nice post. thanks.
Very pretty. I’ve never been even close to these mountains. Maybe someday 🙂
How gorgeous! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sunset so pink. That must have been lovely to watch, especially with such a great rooftop view!
