The last stop on our tour of Providenciales with the Turks and Caicos Tourism Board was to Long Bay Beach. There is no denying that the main attractions in the Turks and Caicos are the beaches with their gorgeous sands and waters that are perfect for swimming and playing in. Long Bay Beach offers both and definitely deserves to be visited if you should find yourself on Providenciales.
This large stretch of coastline on the south shore surprisingly draws few visitors since its off the beaten path. The water is warm and the waves are calm — making it a kitesurfers haven. Most of the other beaches that you will come across in the Turks and Caicos will provide amenities like public restrooms and showers, but they will also be more crowded because they are lined with popular hotels and restaurants.
Then we were taken back to The Somerset on Grace Bay for a Sunset Wine and Food Pairing on the beachfront estate lawn. The hotel’s wine ambassador presented us with five wines and five foods that we would be pairing together for various taste tests.
While I found it really interesting to personally experience and then discuss with a Sommelier how food effects the taste of wine, the beautiful golden sunset in the distance was capturing my attention and begged to be photographed. The day before I had found coral that was shaped like a heart, now I was seeing heart shaped clouds! Love is everywhere in the Turks and Caicos.
