A couple of years ago, my husband and I visited Banner Elk, North Carolina for a magazine assignment and subsequently fell head over heels in love with the charming town nestled amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is only a three hour drive from our hometown of Charlotte, thus it is the perfect distance for a weekend getaway. Our favorite property to stay in while we are there is the gorgeous Banner Elk Winery and Villa — a place that truly feels like home away from home! When our Valentine’s Day trip to New York City was canceled due to snow, we booked a last minute stay there and it definitely helped us get over the sadness we were feeling. The following photos are from that last weekend getaway there:
I am fascinated by the photos. They’re really great! It already tells the whole content of the post. 🙂 I love it.
Thanks so much!
I know it’s in the mountains, but North Carolina seems more wintry than I ever imagined it … loved the shot with the falling snow around you!
Haha everyone always says that! It does get pretty cold in the NC mountains!!! Thank you so much! 🙂
That place was SO peaceful. I remember we stayed there one week before a massive snowstorm — and we had 70+ degree weather! My absolute favorite part was driving up to the high vineyard. We had the whole hilltop to ourselves — I could’ve stayed up there for days! (Or at least until the snowstorm.) 🙂
It’s the best!!! I always love it when you have the entire place to yourself. Such an awesome feeling!
Aaah, looks divine!! We just got back home from almost three months of travel, but I could do a little get-away, to relax a bit after all the travel 😉
Traveling can definitely be exhausting, so I support your need for another getaway haha! It’s SO divine!!!
Gorgeous pics!
Thank you!!!
As an NC native and current resident, this is such a perfect place! You definitely can’t go wrong here!

How stunning! I visit the Blue Ridge mountains a lot in Virginia, and they are so gorgeous, especially in the fall. Haven’t spent much time in North Carolina yet, but might need to check out Banner Elk!
I hope you make it down south! Virginia is gorgeous as well and you’re right especially in the fall.

This looks just gorgeous, so romantic! Makes me realise how much more of the US there is to see that you don’t necessarily hear much about.
