What was Joaquín staring at so intently that I eluded to in the former post. . .
His favorite thing at the SEA LIFE Aquarium: the stingrays! He was amazed by everything in the aquarium, but the stingrays stole his heart. He could not take his eyes off of them and wanted to touch them fiercely. One day I will have to take him to Stingray City in the Cayman Islands.
The only way we got him away from the stingrays was by luring him with a lunchtime bottle. Even then Lucas had to feed him from a bench that had a view of them!
My favorite photo from the day? A picture of my two lobsters with a giant lobster.
Since we made a conscious decision as a couple to not travel internationally with Joaquín until he is one years old (stay tuned for a future post about this), it has forced us to explore Charlotte more. I think people forget that you can travel in your own city. There are many reasons why a person is not able to travel domestically or internationally, but there are no reasons why you cannot spend a day playing tourist in your hometown! It is a great way to satisfy your wanderlust from time to time without the stresses that can come along with travel. Visiting the SEA LIFE Aquarium definitely felt like a little adventure to my family and I.
We went here the last time I was in Charlotte (a few months back), and my toddler LOVED it! I couldn’t believe that they managed to fit so many great habitats in the middle of a mall. Also, your son is so, so, so cute! 🙂
I agree, I couldn’t believe they were able to do so much with such little space! I love that your toddler loved it! Thank you for your sweet words about Joaquín.
There’s so much to discover here in my hometown, I LOVE doing that! Those photos are so adorable. The one with Lucas feeding him while watching the stingrays is cute, except then I saw the angry face in the background and it kind of freaked me out! Ha!
Hahahaha you’re so cute! People ALWAYS forget about how much there is to explore in their own backyard.
Ah, LOVE the lobster pic!
Totally agree about being a tourist in your own hometown, but I have to admit, I much prefer doing this with friends from out of town to doing so by myself. I love playing tourist through the eyes of someone green to my city/region.
Isn’t the lobster pic priceless! I’m definitely framing that one. 🙂
Yes, agree, which is why it’s so fun with Joaquín, because he’s never seen anything before! So it’s all new to him!
I love all the pictures, but my favorite is the first one.
Charlotte is beautiful, I always loved it while living in there but when I moved away for family situation I did not think I would miss it sooo bad and now I can not wait to move back next year. I have visited many places in the USA (not as many as you of course) and I have not yet found a better place than North Carolina. I was born and raised in Guayaquil – Ecuador, but my heart belongs to Charlotte.
I love the first one too! OMG what exciting news that you’re moving back to Charlotte. I’m SO SO SO happy to hear that! 🙂
Beautiful pictures! It looks like he had such a great time!
Thank you and yes he looooved it! 🙂
OMG this is the cutest thing ever! He’s adorable!!
