Loving You Is Easy

Mothers. Everyone has one, everyone needs one, and if you have the privilege of becoming one, you will enter into the most terrifying, exhilarating, and exhausting period of your life. It is terrifying to think that your life is irreversibly changed forever. It is exhilarating that there is a little piece of immortality right here on earth that you built from scratch. It is exhausting because, well, it is a baby and babies tend to be sleep averse.

Mothers are the most selfless people who walk the earth, because they put themselves second every chance they get. There is a reason that Mommy Bear’s porridge was cold, because she served herself last for breakfast. It is the way of the world and it means that mothers are often the ones who love themselves the least. If the children need new clothes, then they have them as soon as it is affordable. When Mom needs new clothes, she does not buy them out of sheer guilt that she could be spending her money on her children. The same goes for taking care of her health. Mothers put their health to one side when there is a new baby on the scene, so it is important to take a step back here and think about how you could take more care of yourself. Sometimes, it is perfectly okay to be a little selfish. You can still be a great mother while you take care of yourself, and we have some ways that you can do that:

Workout. A mother who is postpartum has only one priority: sleep. It is hard to motivate yourself to do more than the bare minimum when all you want to do is sink into a soft pillow. Checking out the postpartum workouts on https://www.momsintofitness.com/ can help you to see that you do not have to be running a 5-mile marathon to get fit. You can do some gentle exercises at home to help to ease you back into the swing of things again.

Eat Well. Remember Mommy Bear? She dealt with cold porridge, because it meant that her children did not have to go without a warm breakfast. As a mother, you need your strength, especially when you are breastfeeding. Eating a balanced, healthy diet is a must so get to grips with some amazing slow cooker recipes and you can get a great meal prepared first thing in the morning ready for the end of the day.

Bubble Baths. Feeling good is not just a workout and an apple; it is feeling refreshed and invigorated. Let someone take over for you for the evening with the children and their bedtime routine, and take the chance to sink into the warmest bubble bath ever. Let the hot water relax you and recharge you.

To be able to be the best mother that you can be, you have to love yourself first. Loving yourself does not have to make you feel guilty, especially when loving you can make the difference with your mental health. Take time for you, and you can see the benefits!
