Five Essentials For The Perfect Movie Night At Home

January 15, 2018

Most of us love heading out to the movies, but with the cold weather remaining persistent and cinema tickets being expensive, many people are deciding against going out and choosing instead to stay in to watch a film. If you are worried doing this may detract from the experience do not despair. You can have just as much fun at home, all it takes is a little planning! In this article, we are going to provide a list of five essentials that will help take your movie night from basic to amazing:

Blankets

Being cosy is incredibly important when it comes to watching a film at home and there is just something about soft blankets that do the trick perfectly. Grab a blanket for everyone taking part and sprawl on the couch in utter comfort — now that is one thing you cannot do at the local Odeon!

Popcorn And A Takeaway

You cannot have the perfect movie night at home without popcorn. Popcorn can sometimes be extortionate at the cinemas, but it does not have to be at home. Whether you enjoy sweet and buttery or salty and cheesy, it is worth investing a popcorn popper at home. Let us try to still keep everything in a nice budget, maybe invest in the £20 VonShef popcorn popper and make your own treats before the movie. This device even comes with popcorn boxes, so you can really get the authentic cinema experience. For the value and the fact you can reuse it makes it an ideal investment. It is also perfect for repeat movie nights. In addition, you may also want to order a takeaway. Whether you get a pizza, wings, burgers, or even Indian food, the choice is yours. Just make sure you have enough for the whole duration of the movie.

Pyjamas

Movie night is always more fun when you put your pyjamas on. There is no need to get dressed up, do your hair, or do your makeup when staying in, so find the cosiest pair of pyjamas you can find and let your hair down. The key to a successful movie night at home is comfort and pyjamas add to the cosiness of the blankets we discussed earlier. Plus, it will make it easier to go to bed when the film is over and you are crying because Sean Bean has died for the millionth time.

A Projector And Sound Bar

Okay, so this is not technically a must-have, but if you can afford to invest in a projector and sound bar you will have an amazing experience. Forget about the 50″ widescreen TV in your living room, a projector will be able to create a picture which fills up the whole wall! A sound bar is needed for the loud sounds and to make it as easy as possible to hear the dialogue. We are sure we are not the only ones who have resorted to subtitles during some showings.

The Movie

Finally, we come to the most essential part of movie night: the movie. Good or bad it does not really matter, though it is a good idea to pick something you all agree on. Maybe it is a Hollywood Blockbuster that has just come out on DVD or maybe it is something you have all decided you want to watch on Netflix. Either way, if you do not have a movie, you cannot have movie night, so it is rightly listed as an essential.
