Tips to Help You Save Money When Booking a Hotel

March 13, 2018

Going on vacation is always such an exciting experience. However, bad accommodation can ruin an otherwise perfect holiday. This is why it is advisable not to skimp on accommodation. However, this does not mean that you have to spend a fortune to get good accommodation. Whether you use online booking sites or the hotel’s website, phone the hotel directly or just show up at the hotel, there are a few things you can do to ensure you end up with a good booking deal.

It is not uncommon to find that the rates charged for similar rooms in a hotel are different depending on your method of booking. Therefore, you can save quite some money on accommodation expenses if you know how to go about the booking process. Below are some of the ways in which you can save some money on accommodation expenses.

  1. Avoid booking through online booking sites if possible

Online booking sites are quite helpful, especially if you are traveling to a place you do not know much about. They can give you a rough idea of the hotel rates in a particular place and can be a good starting point in your search for good accommodation. However, you will spend more if you book through them because they also have to make a profit. Thus, it may be a good idea to book through the hotel’s website instead.

  1. Make use of price comparison sites

When looking for accommodation, you should never settle for the first offer you get, no matter how good it seems. Price comparison sites will help you see what different hotels are offering so you can choose the best deal. But remember, the best deal is not necessarily the cheapest. It is about the value you get for your money.

  1. The fewer the rooms booked, the cheaper it will be

This may seem like common sense but not everyone sees it that way. If you are traveling as a group of, say, four, it is cheaper to book one family room than to book two rooms. Most booking sites will only give you the more expensive options but when you check with the hotel directly, you will find that there are other cheaper options. Most hotels, such as Hotel See-Villa in Millstatt, have all the information customers may need regarding the rooms available and the rates charged up on their websites.

  1. Book in advance

This is especially important if you are planning to travel during peak season. It will cost you less if you book months in advance and you will be able to get better rooms with better views. If you wait until the last minute, it can cost you up to twice as much and you can be sure all the good rooms will be booked.

It is easy to get good accommodation at affordable rates if you follow the above tips. You should also try and bargain for a good deal as hotels are often willing to give discounts and throw in some extra perks like a free meal, especially during the low seasons. Good accommodation can take your vacation to a whole new level of awesome, and the best thing is that you do not have to break the bank to enjoy this.
