Four Ways To Use The Space In Your Home Efficiently

March 9, 2020

In your home, you might have some rooms that are not as big as you would like them to be. Some of them may be an awkward shape or have nooks in them that you have no idea how to utilize. It does not, however, mean that that room or space is useless. With a bit of thought and planning, you can turn that small, awkward space into something that you can fully utilize:

Make Use Of Wall Space

In a smaller room, there may not be enough space for you to have both lots of storage units, and other pieces of furniture that you can use. This is where your walls can come in handy. In other rooms, you might use them to hang pictures, but in the smaller room, you can put up shelves that can be used for storage. Shelves are a good option, because you can have furniture underneath them, but make use of all the space that you have above them. They can also be fitted to the size of your wall.

You can also put hooks on your wall to hang up items that you do not use all the time, such as bikes or fold up chairs, so that they are not taking up any precious floor space.

Come Up With Ingenious Solutions To Odd-Shaped Rooms

It may take some planning and might end up a bit out of the ordinary, but if you take the time to think out your space properly, you may be able to come up with some ingenious, custom solutions that work for your home. For example, if you have a narrow bathroom, there is no point in trying to lay it out in a traditional sense. Come up with something that works for that room. Have a shower room at the end of your bathroom, and install a wall-mounted toilet. The layout may seem strange at first, but it will be unique and work well for your home.

Buy Furniture With Dual Purposes

Often, you may not have space for all the furniture that you would have liked to put in the room. This is where furniture with more than one purpose comes in handy.

If you like to have people stay over, but do not have the room for an extra bed, get a sofa that you can change into a bed. Find a table that can be used as a desk, but when you have people around for something to eat, you can extend it into a dining table. There are also lots of items of furniture that can double as extra storage as they are hollow inside. Just make sure that you find quality pieces that will last you a long time.

Put Hooks On The Backs Of Your Doors

Doors can be a great space that you can use for extra storage. By attaching different kinds of hooks to them, they can be used for different items. You could hang your coats up to get them out of the way, and in the kitchen, you could hand up your cleaning supplies to give you more cupboard space.
