Five Fun And Cozy Activities To Do During Fall

November 20, 2020

Fall is our favorite time of year. We love the way the trees crisp up with bright, beautiful leaves, lacing our baked treats with cinnamon spice and keeping cozy by a gentle fire. That said, not getting out and about as much as we would like in the cooling weather can be stressful, not to mention that the days start getting darker so quickly. During fall, even your garden wants to hibernate.

Luckily, there are plenty of special activities to do during this gorgeous month, or fun things that can be enjoyed with a fall spin. Whether it is creating crafts, brainstorming spooky snack ideas, or taking precious me-time in a snug room, fall need not be a time of inactivity. So, get yourself a lovely pumpkin spice brew and don only your coziest clothes, while we take a glance at the finest things to do during the snuggest time of the year.

1. Enjoy fall-themed crafts, bakes, and treats

With Halloween, Dia de Los Muertos, and all those delightful fallen pine cones, we are spoilt for choice with all things crafty and delicious. Perhaps you could put together a spine-chilling costume, throw together a few lovely gold pine cone garlands, or experiment with all things cinnamon, spice, and everything nice in your baking? Not to mention, fans of apple cider and caramelized pears will have a grand time constructing exotic fall cocktails. Also, you would not believe the range of crafty things you can do with a pumpkin, which not only look gorgeous hollowed out and painted, but can be used as vases, storage, and as a tasty ingredient in warming recipes.

2. Get comfortable with a mysterious book

Ah, spooky times are just so on-brand for fall. Not only is there a range of chilling and eerie books out — both digitally and in print — but plenty are on sale in celebration of Halloween. Find yourself ghosties, ghoulies, or tentacled horrors from the beyond, or, if that’s not your speed, try a cozy mystery or ten. There is no need for gore and dread to build up that intoxicating sense of otherworldliness. It is also easier than ever now to access fun reading materials. There is no doubt that fall is a time to connect with our more unearthly selves, and what better way to do that than getting lost in a good book and a comfortable couch? Brew yourself a hot tea, nab a fluffy blanket and you’re ready to go.

3. Play games with your friends or solo

You do not need a crackling fire to get involved with fun fall activities. Although, it does help as it is the perfect addition to that indoor entertainment staple: board games. The more word-inclined might love Scrabble, strategic minds will adore civilization builder Settlers of Catan and there’s a range of fantasy board games out there to fire up your imagination. That said, if you fancy some space and time-out, online games are also a great way to entertain yourself. Tablet owners can enjoy lots of fun free-to-play games that are easy to pick up, while PC heads have a world of gaming opportunity, and can have a go at everything from epic story –based titles to free online slots and other classic games — the range is huge. You will not need any previous skill or experience, or indeed cash, to enjoy some free games online. Plus there are a range of colorful and captivating on-season slot themes — from Halloween horrors to mystic wolves — for a variety of experiences whatever your interests.

4. Explore nature with your pets

With its umber tones and luscious crispness, fall really is one of the most charming times of the year. Dogs will just love racing through the fallen leaves, and there is nothing quite like gazing at those fiery fall hues in a lush forest. Be sure to enjoy the last vestiges of the year outside, taking time to stroll through the local wilderness, or even just taking a moment to taste the lovely fall treats your local restaurants and cafés are brewing up. Not only that, but there are loads of lovely natural sights to behold in fall. Check out your area for pumpkin patches, orchards, and corn mazes, or even just find a nearby farm.

5. Enjoy movies and TV

Much like the world of books, fall is an excellent time indeed for films and TV. As well as so many spooky offerings in celebration of Halloween, watching movies is a lovely way to spend a chilly evening. Whether you want to get comfy on the couch in your pajamas with your friends or watch films with a community online, there are a host of streaming options. Settling in with a film and a spread of Autumn snacks, like some smoky caramel popcorn, is one of the most relaxing activities you can enjoy during the coziest season of them all.
