Let us face it, the last few years have been difficult for almost everyone, and it is no surprise that people want to get away from it all to travel. 

Traveling for an extended period of time can be life-changing and completely change your view on the world and your place in it. But it was also expensive. Unless you are lucky enough to have a lot of money in the bank, you are going to have to put some thought into how you are going to fund your adventures.

Plan out your travels in advance so you have a rough idea of how much you will need to have to be able to travel safely and comfortably. Read as many travel blogs and vlogs as you can so you have a good idea of how much things cost in different parts of the world.

Taking the time to save up may not be a good option for you, either because you do not have the spare cash to save, or you want to travel sooner rather than later and cannot wait. In this case, you could look at borrowing money from family or taking out a loan or similar. There are many different types out there so use compare credit before you apply for anything. If you are going to do this, think about how you are going to pay it back. Some companies let you take a payment holiday, so you could defer your payments while you travel and restart them again once you are back home and working. 

Have a working holiday

Many people traveling for long periods have to work in order to fund their travel and living expenses. There are a number of ways to do this. You can either be self-employed, doing what you already do, just remotely, or work locally. If you are looking for the digital nomad lifestyle, it is become very popular for those with skills in design, programming, marketing, and writing. Another benefit is that you can take clients from all over the world at the same rates as you would at home. This can give you a very good standard of living if the cost of living is lower. 

Alternatively, you can work locally in the country you are traveling in. There are many schemes for travelers to get manual jobs or work in sectors such as retail or entertainment. If you choose this, you will be working for local rates, which may be lower. It also affects the type of visa you might need for a particular country. Check in advance if you need a working visa or a tourist one.

Money is a big reason that many people do not travel as much as they otherwise would. With costs going up all over the world it is an even bigger factor now. When planning your travel you need to plan very carefully how you will fund your trip so that you can get the very best out of your adventures around the world.
