Things You Can Do In Phuket In 2022

July 27, 2022

Phuket is a popular travel destination for people all over the world. With its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters, it is no wonder why so many people flock to this island every year.

If you are looking for things to do in Phuket in 2022, you are in luck! This blog post will outline some of the best activities and attractions that the island has to offer. So, without further ado, here are a few things you can do while in Phuket.

Walk Around Phuket Old Town

If you want to experience something truly unique and very difficult to find anywhere else on the planet, walk around Phuket Old Town, which can be found in the southeast corner of the island.

There was a very successful tin mining industry in the town back in the day, which allowed immigrants from China, Malaysia, and Portugal to become rich. As a result, the colorful architecture fully displays the various cultures. It is quite the experience to walk down these streets; there are even museums, cafes, Chinese temples, Buddhist temples, and boutique shops to visit.

Explore Neighboring Towns

Another thing you absolutely have to do while in Phuket would be to visit and explore the neighboring towns in the region. There are many neighboring towns, such as Ao Luk, Wiang Sa, Kantang, Kathu, Trang, Huai Yot, and more.

However, you should also consider visiting Krabi, the capital of southern Thailand. It is described as a resort town with a lot to do. If you are wondering how to get there, there are a few ways; you can take a taxi, a public bus, a speedboat, and the most popular, a normal ferry.

See A Muay Thai Match

If you are in Phuket and don’t go to see a Muay Thai boxing match, you are missing out on the culture of Thailand. The martial art is also known as the art of eight limbs since you learn to use all parts of your body as weapons.

Muay Thai is quite an old martial art, originating in the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th century and possibly from military roots. If you want to watch a Muay Thai boxing match, you should visit the Patong Boxing Stadium. Better yet, you can even sign up for a lesson or two.

Gander At Chillva Market

Even though the Chillva Market is relatively small compared to the other markets in Phuket, it still has a lot to offer, especially if you are a part of the younger crowd. One aspect of the market that makes it very interesting is that many old shipping containers have been converted into shops.

Most of the time, live music is playing at the market, and you can find stuff like shoes, clothing, local food, and accessories. With it being a night market, it is only open from 5 pm until 10 pm. However, from Thursday until Saturday, it is open until 11 pm.

Take A Look At The Big Buddha

Of all the sights you should feast your eyes on when visiting Phuket, the Big Buddha is one of them. It stands 45 meters tall, so it is difficult not to see it. Big Buddha is one of the more popular attractions, so you should visit in the morning to avoid all of the tourists.

You can find Big Buddha on top of Nakkerd Hills, which requires some effort to get to since you have to drive up a winding, uphill road. You could drive there yourself in a rental, take a taxi, or join a tour group on a bus that makes a stop there.

See The Night Market

Finally, the last suggestion on this list as to what you can do when visiting Phuket in 2022 would be to visit the Night Market. The Naka Market, or The Phuket Weekend Night Market, is the largest night market in Phuket.

If you are looking for a souvenir to bring home, this would be the place to find it. You can find fresh fruit, movies, CDs, clothes, souvenirs, and even deep-fried insects. With it being the largest market, the crowds can get massive, so you should visit as early as possible.
