Given the breakneck pace of our hectic modern lifestyles, it’s no wonder that sometimes we push ourselves to the breaking point! The endless struggle for money, health, love, and maybe just a sense that our lives have some kind of meaning can be exhausting. Enduring the too often harsh environment of our daily existence has brought the term wellness into our group consciousness, a hopeful sounding word that symbolizes a balm for turbulent times.
The simple act of escaping the rat race for a relaxing holiday can make a big difference in our quest to stay sane. A lengthy stay at a modern-day oasis like the Amatara wellness resort Phuket is just the thing to help us shed some of that stress, lower our blood pressure and heart rates, and maybe even allow us to take a minute to enjoy the gifts of nature’s beauty that abound there. If you can go, by all means, do it, but meanwhile, there are some little things we can do to promote wellness in our daily lives that can have a big impact on our well-being!
Get some sleep – A proper sleep is considered to be equal in importance to healthy eating and exercise. You will find it improves productivity and concentration, and is a boon to your overall health, logging in the recommended hours of sleep every night will have a profound impact on your wellness.
Get some fresh air – Go outside for an invigoratingly brisk walk, or just relax with a book in the sunshine, however, you slice it some fresh air will do you a world of good. Being outside for 30 minutes a day will boost your body’s vitamin D supply, and sunlight is proven to alleviate chronic depression. If you have the space, start a flower garden, the bright colours and pleasant fragrances will soothe your soul, plus provide you with some exercise as you tackle those pesky weeds!
Snack smartly – It’s so easy to mindlessly gobble down junk food like potato chips and cookies during a busy day, they are quick and easy, and satisfy your hunger, but they aren’t doing you any good, in fact, quite the opposite. Take the time to make wiser snack choices that are satisfying and healthy, too! Fresh sliced veggies, mixed nuts, natural yoghurt, and yes, even the occasional piece of dark chocolate are terrific options that will keep you feeling satiated whilst contributing to your overall wellness, too! It’s hard to beat Thailand’s healthy food guidelines, they are good advice wherever you may be!
Practice gratitude – Its our tendency to focus on the things we’re lacking in life instead of focusing on all the good things we do have. Try measuring your self-worth by all your successes rather than counting your deficits and you might be surprised by how things are actually going pretty well in your life! Take a moment to pat yourself on the back and say thanks for those good things
