Common Skin Care Mistake

August 29, 2019

We all make mistakes, one more than the other but no one is perfect right? And that is alright until it comes to caring for your skin. Things that you choose to do or not to do right now can affect your skin dramatically in the years to come.

We are all aware that we must cleanse our face every morning and night with products suited for our skin type as a basic skincare. But there is more to that than just cleansing your face in order to achieve a beautiful and healthy skin. So here are 9 common mistakes we must discontinue to step up in our skin care routine.

Error 1: Not Using SPF

Whether it’s summer or winter, there’s always sunshine. The UV rays from the sun is bad for the skin as it can cause damage to the skin such as premature aging and wrinkles. That is why we need to protect our skin with SPF protection products. However, many often overlook that in their skincare routine because their foundation already contains SPF coverage. Though it is good to have SPF coverage in your make up, but it simply does not hold up as well as a product specially made to protect your skin from the UV rays.

It is recommended that you use products with at least a coverage of SPF 15 every day after applying your day cream.

Error 2: Forgetting to wash your hands before you start washing your face.

Honestly, I am guilty of this myself. Half of the time, I too forget to wash my hands before washing my face. But it is important that your hands are clean before you start washing your face because your hands contain a lot of bacteria that can transfer to your face which causes acne and red skin. Thus, even if you wash your face with a brush, it is still recommended that you wash your hands first.

Error 3: Not dabbing your face dry

This is might not seem much, but it is so important, especially for those with sensitive skin. We often have the tendency to finish quickly and run a towel along our face, but that damages your skin! So, ladies from now on we’ll dab our faces dry!

Tip: You can buy some guest wipes for your face and throw it in the laundry after using it once. So, you will always have clean towel for your face, and you run less risk of having bacteria on your face.

Error 4: Using the same cream all year round.

Just like the seasons, your skin changes and requires different skincare in the summer and winter. In the winter, your skin is usually drier and requires a heavier and greasier cream than in the summer. But this is completely different for each skin. Personally, I use Lait-cream concentrate from Embryolisse (for sale here) in the winter and the Vitamin E cream from The Body shop (for sale here) in the summer. It might take some time for you to find the perfect combination but don’t worry, there’s something out there for every skin!

Error 5: Keeping your makeup on at night.

I hope I don’t have to say too much about this. I know a lot of people don’t do it, but there are still ladies who do. So, for those ladies, just don’t.

Error 6: Drinking too many soft drinks.

Nowadays, we are all more conscious of what we put in our bodies but let’s face it, soda is just delicious. But of course, soda contains a lot of sugar and sugar is not good for you and your skin. Do you suffer from red skin, or maybe even acne? Note down what you drink in a week and write it down. After that week I advise you to change your habit and keep a close eye on your skin. Write that down and compare your results with the first week. You will not only feel better because you have not consumed all those sugars, but you will also see it in your skin.

Error 7: Waiting too long to use anti-aging products.

You are never too young to start using anti-aging products! The most important products are your cream and your SPF. It’s better to prevent than to cure. So, if you somewhere in your 20s I would suggest to start lubricating because the 30s are already getting close. Another option is to prevent wrinkles with Botox injections.

Error 8: Picking on pimples

I think this is the most common mistake. One that I make myself too. I’ve always had it I can’t stay away from spots, pimples and wounds but of course this is not good for your skin. Every pimple or pimple that you try to squeeze, you experience a wound and eventually causes a scar on your skin. The same goes for scratching wounds. You won’t always see the scars, but they are there.

Error 9: Not taking your neck with you in your skincare ritual.

Your neck is as exposed as your face and is also skin that is always seen. If you don’t clean and care for it in the same way, you’ll regret it at a later age. Because everyone knows, even those women with super beautiful skin in the face without wrinkles and such can reveal their real age when you look at the neck.

Now that we know all this, we all won’t have to make the same mistakes anymore, do we? No one has to be perfect as long as you are happy with who you are and as long as you are kind to yourself and your skin!

Useful post about skin care mistakes, It’s best to learn from other’s mistakes than to feel the urge to commit one by oneself & then think of learning. I think we’ve all made some of these mistakes to some degree or another.
