Fun Things To Do In Atlanta

July 28, 2021

Atlanta might be a commercial hub for a lot of businesses, but did you know that it is also a massive draw for sightseers? Think about it, there is a zoo that offers a fantastic panda exhibit, quite a few entertainment venues that are unique, and even spaces like Piedmont Park for people who love green spaces.

Here is a quick look at a few other things to do while you are in Atlanta:

Facials

When you come to Atlanta, on either your first day in town or your last, make sure you pamper yourself. Do a quick Google search for “facial Atlanta” and you will see that the city offers many opportunities to give yourself a little bit of me time and rejuvenate your skin at the same time.

What better time is there to get a facial than when you are on vacation and have the time for it?

Museums

If you are into museums, you do not need to go all the way to NYC to see great ones. When you are in Atlanta, you might want to check out the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. There you will be able to explore both present-day and prehistoric natural wonders. They feature exhibits involving cultural garments, Georgia wildlife, dinosaur bones, and more. They have a café to eat at and even a theater for 3D movies.

Hall Of Fame

For those into college football and who love the fall when you can yell “Roll Tide” or “Go Bucs!” you might be interested to know that Atlanta is a great place for you to get a football fix even off-season. That is because the College Football Hall of Fame is there. It is located across the street from Atlanta’s Centennial Park and south of the state aquarium. There are over 50 exhibits dedicated to the sport we all love. This is also where you can get up close and personal with things like the National Championship trophy and the Heisman trophy!

Coke

If you are from the south, it is likely you have been drinking sweet tea and Coke (not together), from the time you still took a bottle. In Atlanta, finish off a sweltering day out at the World of Coca-Cola, which is a unique sort of museum dedicated to all things Coke. You will see and learn about everything from the bottling process to its prominence in pop culture, and more. You can even take a taste of Coke variations no longer in production.

Piedmont Park

If the outdoors is more your thing and you can take the heat, why not spend the afternoon at Piedmont Park. This park sprawls over 200 acres and offers a myriad of things to do. They have jogging and walking paths, a farmer’s market on Saturdays, a swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic facilities, and even more.

Fish

If you enjoy aquariums, you have come to the right place. The Georgia Aquarium is one of the largest in the world and right here in Atlanta. You will find over 100,000 animals at the aquarium from an amazing 700 different species. These are spread throughout seven different galleries. For example, in the Southern Company River Scout gallery, you will find freshwater creatures, while in a tank large enough to hold 6.3 million gallons of water, you will find a whale shark!

Many people might think that in Atlanta, it is too hot to leave the hotel room — and they would not be wrong — but there is plenty out there that the city can offer the intrepid traveler. They are not all massive touristy places like Six Flags (also here) either. Come see just what Atlanta can offer you on your visit to the Peach State.
