Joaquín’s First Pair Of Shoes

Before Joaquín was even born my husband bought him his first pair of shoes. I remember the moment so clearly, even though it was almost two years ago. He spotted them in the store and had to have them. What my husband did not know at the time, was that our son was going to hate shoes. We tried from a very early age to get him wearing them, but he refused to keep them on his feet. Thus, the expensive pair of shoes that were supposed to be Joaquín’s “first pair of shoes” went unworn and are now sadly too small for his quickly growing feet.

So, what have we been doing when we take him to the park? We have been letting him play in socks. It worked while it was the summer, but now that it is fall and the weather is cold and damp, it is time that he finally learn to wear shoes. Also, my nine month old is days away from taking his first steps. Both Lucas and I walked at nine months as well!

Lucas really wanted Joaquín’s first pair of shoes to match his own, so we headed to Famous Footwear to find father and son shoes that were both stylish and comfortable for all of the fall-time favorite activities we would be doing as a family, like playing in the leaves, picking out pumpkins at a nearby pumpkin patch, trick-or-treating on Halloween, and of course daily visits to the park.

Before we headed to the store we took a look at Famous Footwear’s #ohsofamous online style gallery, which is a fun place to get inspiration, explore what others are wearing, and see the variety that the shop offers. I could spend hours on there! Black is always in style and when we discovered these Nike shoes for Lucas and these Nike shoes for Joaquín, we knew we had struck gold! How adorable are my two gorgeous men in their new, matching shoes? The best part about this entire experience is that Joaquín is finally loving wearing shoes. This is definitely a fall I will never forget thanks to Famous Footwear.
