Abi, which is short for abuela (grandmother in Spanish), is the name my mom is teaching my son to call her. She wanted a special and unique name — something other than grandmother. She thought about this name for the entire nine months I was pregnant with Joaquín and then one day the name came to her.
Abi has been one of the biggest blessings in my life this year. I am not sure that I would even be writing this post without her to be honest? Unfortunately, my pregnancy and delivery were very difficult and traumatic. Not only did she take care of me after my painful c-section, she took care of my most valuable possession: Joaquín. Despite having a full-time job at a Fortune 500 company, she always selflessly puts us first no matter what. She has gone so many nights without sleep to tend to Joaquín and takes him on “daily adventures” in order for me to either catch up on work or sleep. She is the perfect example of what it means to be an extraordinary mom. I look up to her in more ways than I can count and hope that Joaquín will one day think of me as fondly as I think of her!
I decided to gift her a pair of gorgeous BEARPAW Boshie winter boots from Famous Footwear for the holidays, as a thank you for all that she does for me and Joaquín. I want her feet to be warm and comfortable during their winter activities together. It is the least I can do to in some way express my depth of gratitude. I truly doubt that there is a grandmother in this world that loves her grandson more.
