Little Washington, North Carolina: Day 2 (Part 5)

April 10, 2017

One of my favorite things about living in the South is the food. In my opinion, North Carolina makes the best “comfort food” in the world. Little Washington, North Carolina is known for its award-winning seafood, however since our toddler does not enjoy seafood yet, we would have to save it for another visit. I always like having a reason to return to a place!

We headed back to the waterfront for lunch at Grub Brothers Eatery, which is in the heart of the historic district. This local restaurant is known for serving, “Southern and Cajun cuisine with a twist”. Its casual and upbeat atmosphere gives its diners the perfect southern hospitality experience, which is exactly what we were looking for with a toddler in tow.

After a very delicious and filling lunch, we took one more walk along the Pamlico River, before returning to the hotel for Joaquín’s much needed nap of the day.

In the evening, we drove to Greensboro, North Carolina, which is about twenty miles away from Little Washington, to visit the Four Seasons mall. When traveling with small children, you have to learn how to be creative, especially in the evenings, when most child-friendly places are closed. Our son loves running around malls and usually malls have indoor playgrounds (great for when when the weather is cold or it is dark outside). I strongly advise when taking a family trip to research all of the malls and playgrounds in the area that you will be staying. That list will definitely come in handy at least one during your vacation I promise.

Little Washington was such a delightful town. I highly recommend exploring it, especially if you have a family. It is the perfect place for a weekend getaway, where you will create memories to last a lifetime!

Wow, I’m drooling looking at that food! My hubbie is always telling me we need to visit the Carolinas, and it’s an oversight that we haven’t yet on our trips back to the States. Must rectify that asap. Oh, and I can’t believe how big your little man has gotten!
