Over a decade ago, I was floating in Copacabana Beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brasil when an idea came to me about being able to book a hotel room for use only during the day in order to save money. My flight back to the United States was not until later in the evening, however I had to pay for my room regardless of the fact that I would not be using it to sleep in, as I simply needed a place to store my belongings while I was at the beach, as well as I needed a shower to use once I returned from the beach before heading to the airport. A couple of weeks ago, my family and I had the pleasure of testing out a day stay at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites. At first my husband did not really understand the concept, but after our day stay he is now a huge fan! In our case, we were not traveling and I highly recommend using HotelsByDay as a form of staycation, especially when you have kids. Our son loves, loves, loves hotels (I wonder where he gets that from?), but we do not always get the best night’s sleep sharing one room together. This way we got to experience the perks of staying in a hotel, but returned home in time for our evening routine. Plus, packing was a breeze. We checked in to our beautiful suite around 10AM and went straight to the pool.
After a couple of hours in the pool and Joaquín’s first experience in a jacuzzi, we headed back to our suite where we ordered room service and then all three of us promptly fell asleep for a much-needed nap in our comfy king-sized bed. We woke up just in time for check out at 5:30PM. What a luxurious day!
Our first HotelsByDay experience was a complete success and I cannot wait to try it out again in a different city. For avid travelers this is definitely a game changer.
