The Most Important Day Of My Life

Today is the day. No, it is not my Birthday (that is this coming Saturday). No, it is not the day of my second wedding (that date is still unknown, but should be in the next month or so). It is the day that my husband, Lucas, finally arrives in the United States and our life together forever begins! I am about to leave for the airport to pick him up and I cannot describe the overwhelming emotions that I am feeling in this moment. For those of you who have supported me during our long and frustrating fiancé visa saga thank you and muchas gracias.

In honor of the most important day of my life, I have decided to share the video from when I surprised Lucas for his Birthday several weeks ago. I wanted to finish my Dominican Republic posts before I returned to my posts regarding the surprise, however I simply could not wait another day — I just had to share it!

A special note: this video was not staged. The only part that was staged was the part in which you will see Lucas walking down the street to the place where I surprised him. About an hour after the surprise (once he had quit shaking from the shock) we asked him to shoot a little footage in order for the video to tell the entire story.

    Yay Andi! What a beautiful video. That must be SO exciting that he is finally getting to come live with you! I know it’s really hard to be separated…my husband is in law school in a different city during the school year, and the last school year, only got to see each other on weekends. He was home all summer and is about to go back, but luckily my job has agreed to let me work there 2 days a week. But still–being separated from your love sucks! So happy y’all are able to start your life together. And I know that video is something you’ll treasure forever.

    Aww I absolutely <3 this! I think it's amazing that you've managed to make your relationship work whilst living in different countries – different continents, even! – and even more amazing that Lucas will be moving to the US to be with you very shortly!

    Your story is proof to anyone in a relationship with a person from another country (like me, although luckily I'm in the same country as my partner at the moment) that with effort things can and DO work out, and is an inspiration, too.

      What an AWESOME comment! If it’s true love, no matter the distance, it will work, period. We survived 6 years in different hemispheres and despite so many frustrating and painful obstacles. The day has FINALLY come where we can begin the rest of our lives together in the same place. YAY!!!!!!!!!! <3

I use to have long distance relationship with my hubbie too. He was near buffalo for school. And I only get to see him on Holiday or when school takes off.
