Review: Global Goods Partners

December 3, 2015

It warms my heart whenever I discover a company that is founded on the principle of impacting the world through the sale of their products. That is exactly what Global Good Partners is doing and why I am their newest fan. Their motto is: buy handmade — change women’s lives. Does that not make you want to instantly purchase something from them? It certainly makes me want to!

Global Goods Partners is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to
alleviating poverty and promoting social justice. Founded in 2005, it creates economic opportunity for women in some of the world’s poorest communities by providing access to the US market for the fair trade, handmade products they produce. Working in partnership with more than 40 partners in 20 countries, Global Goods Partners provides technical assistance, product development, operational expertise, and small capacity building grants to their community based partners. With this support, Global Goods Partners is empowering women to create sustainable change-advancing the health and well-being of their families and communities.

Each item on the website comes with a detailed description of the direct impact that it makes on the women that created it. Personally, I think that makes the items that much more special.

They generously sent Joaquín some early Christmas presents to brighten up his nursery. To say I am smitten is an understatement. Those closest to my husband and I know of our love for sloths. One of our Bucket List items is seeing sloths in the wild with our son. We hope that he will be as equally obsessed with them as we are. In Spanish, sloth is translated to “lazy monkey,” and it is a nickname I call my two boys sometimes. Thus, the sleeping sloth mobile that we were gifted could not be more perfect. We hung it right next to Joaquín’s crib, so that he sees it all of the time.

We have been wanting to decorate our house for the holidays, but with our son being less than a year old we have been hesitant. This is why we were so excited to receive the felt holiday garland. Not only is it gorgeous, but it is completely baby-proof. We do not have to worry about Joaquín breaking it or hurting himself on it. It definitely adds the holiday sparkle that we were searching for.

I highly recommend doing your upcoming holiday shopping with Global Goods Partners. You will be delighted by the products and you will be changing women’s lives. You cannot put a price on that!
