Five Road Trip Ideas For The Second Pandemic Summer

May 5, 2021

Millions of people in the United States are getting vaccinated, but that does not mean that the pandemic is ending. By definition pandemics are global and the world will not get a handle on the virus for a long time. Countries like Brazil and India are struggling with huge numbers and variants of the virus.

We will not be out of this until every country has it under control. As we approach the second summer with COVID-19 on our minds, we are all wondering how we should spend our vacation time. One of the best ways to go on a trip is to hit the road. Whether you are driving a standard car or one of the different types of EVs, taking a road trip is a great option.

The Southwest

Whether you are in California on the East Coast, taking a road trip through the Southwest is an amazing experience. It does not matter if you go to Zion in Utah or the Grand Canyon in Arizona, taking a trip through this region is incredible for a variety of reasons. Not only is the scenery magnificent, the wide open spaces will give you peace of mind and serenity. Furthermore, with a lot of sunshine and fewer people, they have less pandemic restrictions and virus cases. Head to Texas or New Mexico. Drive to the Rocky Mountains. However you choose to spend your trip, the Southwest is full of options.

Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest is another great choice for a road trip. With so many activities and sites in a small area, driving through Oregon and Washington provides a sense of calm and natural beauty that is unparalleled anywhere else in the country. While you can pass through cities like Portland and Seattle, you also have the option to drive to Olympic National Park and Multnomah Falls. There are lakes, rivers, waterfalls, large trees, and spectacular wildlife. However long you spend in the area, the Pacific Northwest is an amazing place to immerse yourself in nature.

The South

Wherever you are coming from, taking a trip to the South is a multi-faceted trip option. With so many places to go and things to see, you will be able to have some fun and forget about the pandemic for a while. Many of these states have less regulations and the atmosphere about the virus is better. If you are looking for a COVID-free mindset, Florida will oblige. Soak up the sun and forget your worries. Nashville has great food and live shows waiting for you. Go hike in the outdoors, camp, fish, and enjoy some Southern mentality.

Cross Country

Another thing you can do is to drive for the sake of driving. With no destination in mind, you can drive across the country and find what you never knew you were looking for. People on the coast are feeling suffocated by their regulations and hysterical pandemic environments. It does not matter whether you are in California or New York, getting out of state and driving across the country will clear your mind and give you the opportunity to decide your next move.

Pacific Coast Highway & Wine Country

If you are in California, you can drive up the Pacific Coast Highway. Drive through San Luis Obispo, Big Sur, and Monterey. It is a beautiful drive where you can stop to hike, camp, grab a bite to eat, or simply gaze out onto the ocean. Not far away from PCH is Napa Valley and other areas of wine country. Go to a vineyard, drink some wine, and enjoy the scenery. There are plenty of options for a road trip in California. Take a look and you will love the open roads of this large state.

It is quite possibly the best time to hit the road. With the pandemic lingering on, taking a road trip is a way to get out of your setting and refresh your mindset. You will be able to shed the stress and anxiety of this strange, tumultuous time. Whether you’re trying to get out of the state you’re in or simply want to get out into the fresh air and outdoors. What are you waiting for? It is time to hit the road!
