If you have tried various relaxation techniques in the past, but none of them have seemed to work, then you may find this incredibly frustrating. You may feel as though nothing you do works and that you need to make a positive change, but do not know how. Either way, if this sounds like you, then it is important to know that there are solutions out there. Want to find out more? Take a look below.
Breathe
Breathing exercises are one of the best strategies that you can use to unwind. Breathing properly can calm down your incredibly stressed body, so take the time to lie down in a quiet space, that is comfortable. This could be on your bed, on your sofa or even on the floor if you feel as though you are more content here. You then need to put a hand on your stomach and breathe in. You will need to do this to the count of three. When you have done this, you then need to breathe out, again, to the count of three. You will feel your body rise and fall as you carry out this exercise, and usually, you only have to do it five or six times to reap the benefits.
Releasing Physical Tension
When you feel mentally stressed, you may end up feeling physically stressed as well. Releasing physical tension is the best way for you to relieve stress in your body and your mind. Try and lay on a soft surface. It could be a yoga mat or even your bed. You then need to purposely tense up one part of your body at a time. You then need to relax your muscles. When you do this, notice how your body changes. A lot of people start with their facial muscles or their toes and then work their way through to the opposite end. If you find it hard to physically and mentally relax, why not try CBD oil?
Write Down Your Thoughts
Getting everything off your mind can work wonders for your mental health. When you feel down in the dumps, take a few minutes to write down a few short notes of how you are feeling or even how your day is going. You might want to do this in a notes app, or you may want to do it on your smartphone. Either way, you do not need to worry about making it eloquent or having everything spelt perfectly, just use it as an opportunity to vent.
Make A List
Make a list of everything that you are truly grateful for. The great thing about doing this is that it can help you to feel really relaxed and it can also help to stop you from focusing on all of the negatives in your life. Try and think about a few of the good things that have happened to you, and also try and dismiss any bad thoughts that creep into your mind. This will help you to be far more positive overall, and it will work wonders for your mental health.
