I am firm believer in synchronicity, so much so that I have the word tattooed on me! Synchronicity — meaningful coincidences that feel like tiny messages — has always intrigued me, and this moment reminded me why I believe in them so deeply. I have talked about its power in my life before, specifically in this post about India and this post about Brasil. Normally I do not interrupt my series of posts with daily life experiences, however something happened that I just had to share. Plus, I feel like it fits in well with the topic of my current posts, my upcoming wedding.
Three months from yesterday (which happened to be Valentine’s Day) is my wedding date and I opened my fortune cookie to discover a fortune that truly took my breath away:
News of this incredible coincidence spread around the restaurant quickly and I had strangers congratulating me. It was the perfect way to end the most romantic day of the year, especially since I was away from my sweetheart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the thoughtful messages so many of you sent to me on Twitter and Facebook when I posted a picture of the fortune. What this ultimately means, who knows, but I feel like it is another reminder that I am following my bliss in life! Have you ever experienced a moment that felt like a sign or synchronicity? ✨ FAQ: What Is Synchronicity?
What is synchronicity?
Synchronicity is the experience of meaningful coincidences that feel too perfectly timed to be random. It is when events align in a way that carries personal meaning — almost like the Universe is gently nudging you in a certain direction.
Is synchronicity just coincidence?
While some people see synchronicity as coincidence, others believe these moments carry deeper significance. The key difference is meaning. A synchronistic moment feels emotionally charged, symbolic, or connected to something you are going through in your life.
Who came up with the idea of synchronicity?
The term “synchronicity” was first introduced by psychologist Carl Jung, who described it as meaningful events that are not causally related, but are connected through meaning.
What is an example of synchronicity?
An example might be thinking deeply about a life decision and then receiving an unexpected message, sign, or encounter that seems to answer your question. In my case, a simple fortune cookie message appeared at the exact moment I needed reassurance about following my path.
Why do people believe in synchronicity?
Many people believe synchronicity is a way the Universe, intuition, or subconscious mind communicates with us. These moments often happen during times of change, growth, or emotional significance.
How can you recognize synchronicity in your life?
Synchronicity often feels:
• Timely
• Emotionally powerful
• Symbolic
• Too specific to ignore
It tends to stand out from everyday coincidences because it creates a strong inner knowing or sense of alignment.
Can synchronicity guide life decisions?
While synchronicity should not replace logic or planning, many people see it as a sign to pay attention to their intuition. These moments can offer reassurance, clarity, or encouragement when you are on the brink of change.

Wow… that’s scary (in a very very good way!). I’m so happy for you – it must have really made your day!
When good things happen to nice people, the world seems right. 🙂
Keep reaching for the brass ring Andi!
so so awesome!

Just love this, Andi!! 🙂 So very, very happy for you. 🙂
it is meant to be! 🙂 besos!
That’s awesome! Especially because they don’t really do fortunes anymore. All I’ve gotten lately is funny little jokes, play on words, that are less fortunes and more just general witticisms. So, with that being the case, getting a fortune like this is even more rare!
Awesome. Talk about fate.
Now THAT is what you call fate!
Now that is FATE for sure! It’s so amazing you got that today! ♥♥
That’s beautiful synchronicity and to read this fortune on Valentine’s Day:-)
OMG so cool! It’s a sign.
Wow that is amazing fortune – meant to be! Love when something like that happens 🙂 … 3months, so exciting Andi!
Shut up! Awesome!!!
ok that is an absolutely amazing fortune!
Wow…. so real but true. happy for you
NO WAY – did someone plant that for you?!
I already commented once, but this is seriously the coolest thing!
Uber-cute! Tons of congratulations your way 🙂
I don´t need a fortune cookie, I know good things are in your future!
Absolutely adorable!! x
Awesome, what a great surprise, and I agree with Ayngelina that I know as well that good things are coming your way.
I seriously never get fortunes like that… so jealous =) Good on you!
Boo, your blog at my comment. Let’s see if this works:
I still think this is so crazy! But for the people who don’t know, you should add that your wedding is 3 months from the date you got that fortune so that they can appreciate just how crazy it really is.
I’ll say it again – THAT is the definition of fate!
My husband and I narrowed down our wedding date to a few choices and then sent those to his mom and grandma, who consulted a fortune teller and reported back which date was the most lucky. This fortune teller must be pretty good, because my husband was playing with some Chinese lunar almanac app on a colleague’s phone today and reported that for the date of our wedding, it listed nothing but good luck for things occurring that day, and absolutely nothing under the bad luck category! Whew!!
Amazing!
Truly amazing!!!!!!!!
That’s really incredible, considering it’s just a random fortune cookie. I believe things happen for a reason. This just seems to be a sign that you’re on the right track.
Love this!!!
Congrats!!!!!!!!
What a cool experience!
Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous!!!
I wish I’m as fortunate as you=) Love this kind of moments.
CONGRATS!!!!!
Remarkable!!!
Definitely no doubt about it fate!
That is absolutely amazing Andi! Happy for you and love the wonderful synchronicity in that moment – there is little doubt you are following your bliss 🙂
No way! That’s awesome, Andi. I wish you tons of luck and happiness leading up to the big day.
As an aside, I just had a fortune cookie yesterday for the first time in a long time. It’s fortune was nothing like yours, though 🙂
That’s awesome! Congrats. I’m also a firm believer in luck, and just seeing signs from the outside world (which includes those fortune cookies too).
I <3 that! So cool.
Congrats! Both for staying “in the flow” (so you would notice your synchronicities), and then reveling in it! The more we share them, the more show up 🙂
